A children's suit knitted with their own hands is softer and more elastic than one bought in a store, so every mother tries to include it in the baby's dowry. The scheme of products for children of different ages is approximately the same.

The children's costume includes two elements: knitted pants and a blouse. It must meet two conditions: be soft and warm, so the first thing to start with is the choice of yarn. It must be for children with a wool content of no more than 50%. In stores, 100% acrylic is often found. It is inferior to blended yarn in thermal properties and stretches more, but is more comfortable to wear in summer.

Buying adult wool for a child's product, needlewomen run the risk of getting a hard, prickly cloth for delicate skin.

Pants have a simpler cut than a blouse, so you should start with them. They are knitted on a regular pair of needles from two parts: front and back. You should start from the bottom. Since children's clothes should not be tight-fitting, the calculation of the loops is very approximate. You can knit a small test sample and, applying it in a bent position in a circle to the child's leg, count the number of loops recruited. Dividing it into two, according to the number of parts, the loops are typed on the knitting needles and knitted with the selected pattern. Having reached the groin, the loops are removed on the auxiliary knitting needle and set aside, after which the fabric for the second leg is typed and knitted on the main knitting needles. Having knitted the same number of rows, the loops of the first part are moved to the knitting needle with the canvas. Next, half of the pants is knitted to the waist and the loops are closed 1-1.5 cm above the expected belt line. This surplus is subsequently tucked in for threading the elastic. The second half is symmetrical to the first, and after its completion, both parts are crocheted along the side and step cuts.

So that the product does not have seams, when cutting it is not divided into two parts, but all the loops of each leg are collected on the stocking knitting needles, after knitting both of them are combined into a circular fabric.

For convenience, the blouse should have buttoned strips or a zipper: it will be difficult to put a pullover on a baby's big head, and this procedure can scare newborns. In this regard, it is better to knit the upper part of the suit on circular knitting needles in a single piece - so it will not have side seams. The size of the blouse is correlated with the width of the pants, gaining the same or slightly more loops as in the lower part at the waist level.

Having knitted a rectangular fabric to the armpits, it is divided into three parts in a ratio of 1: 2: 1, the middle is taken to the back, the edges are divided into two parts of the front. Further, the back is knitted to shoulder level, part of the front - to the intended neckline. The neckline is performed by decreasing the loops in approximately the following sequence: 4-3-2-1-1. The exact numbers depend on the thickness of the yarn.

Sleeves can be knitted separately or on the raised outer loops of two armholes. In the latter case, the seams will be practically invisible. In the area of the wrist, it is necessary to perform an elastic band, otherwise the sleeve will bend when putting on the jacket on the child, opening access to cold air.

If the blouse will be fastened with buttons, then along its edges it is necessary to raise the loops to knit the straps, taking into account the holes on one of them. The zipper can be sewn directly to the hem. The neckline is knitted on raised loops or separately, followed by sewing.
