You are probably not satisfied with the standard signals built into mobile phones, and you would like to hear your favorite song as a call or an SMS signal, but downloading the entire file for this is not particularly convenient and, of course, completely inappropriate. The easiest way to trim Mp3 files for this is still on your computer.
Instructions
Step 1
Open a program that is usually already installed on all computers, as it is a standard program under Windows XP - Windows Movie Maker. This program is located in the "Accessories" folder. Run the program.
Step 2
Load the music file you want to trim into the program. In the menu item "Video recording" select the item "Import" and in the window that opens, select the desired audio file.
Step 3
The actual cropping of the file. In the trimming music window, switch the mode to Timeline Display, and then drag the trimmed file to the Sound or Music field. Determine the beginning and end of the future ringtone (that is, the first and second timestamps of the song, by which you will trim the file), for which click the "Play timeline" button and remember the required recording time. Now place the cursor at the very beginning of the recording - a special red icon should appear, this is the trim mark. Hold down the left mouse button and move the cursor to the first timestamp. Release the mouse button - the first part of the file is cut off. Again, hold down the mouse button and drag the trimmed piece of audio to the beginning of the field.
Step 4
If you forget to do this, the recording time will not change - just at the beginning of the file, all the time that you cut off, there will be silence. In order to get a short ringtone, be sure to move the recording to the beginning. Do the same with the second cropping timestamp.
Step 5
Save the newly created file on your computer by selecting the appropriate menu item and ticking the box "Best playback quality on a computer". Use a dedicated encoder to convert the saved file from the.wma format, which automatically saves Windows Movie Maker files, to the.mp3 format that your phone supports.
