There are many ways to make a voluminous herringbone. The material can be silk ribbons, lace, colored paper, or a skein of ordinary thread. A Christmas tree made of threads is an easy-to-make, but extremely effective decoration that will give your home an elegant and festive look.
It is necessary
- - thick paper;
- - scissors;
- - pencil;
- - ruler;
- - a skein of thread;
- - PVA glue;
- - a needle with a wide eye;
- - scotch tape or foil;
- - stapler;
- - decorative ornaments.
Instructions
Step 1
Roll a cone out of heavy paper or cardboard. The value can be any, but do not make it too narrow, otherwise it will be difficult to remove the paper later. Secure the paper with a stapler, stepping back from the edge by about 1 -2 cm. Make sure that the sides are straight and smooth, and the nose is sharp. Place the cone on a flat surface and check if the entire structure is tilting left or right. Wrap the cone with tape or foil to avoid sticking the paper and thread later. The cone will serve as a shape for the herringbone and will be removed at a later stage.
Step 2
Take a new tube of PVA glue and pierce it with a needle threaded through it. After pulling the thread through the tube, it is evenly impregnated with glue. Don't make the hole too wide. Wrap the string around the paper cone. Try to wind it in different directions to create a mesh. At this stage, it is important to maintain a balance and not make the braid not tight enough or, conversely, too thick. In the first case, the herringbone may curl up like an "accordion" when trying to take out the paper form, because the frame will not be stable enough. But if you wind too much thread, the appearance of the product will suffer. The herringbone will lose its lightness and airiness, hardly letting in the light. After gluing the desired area, leave the product for a couple of hours to dry.
Step 3
Carefully remove the blank from the paper form. This stage is the most difficult. The glue gave the threads a certain stiffness, but in general, the frame still remains very fragile and can wrinkle and bend from one careless movement. Use a utility knife to carefully separate the mold from the workpiece. Use your fingers to gently straighten the frame if it is slightly deformed.
Step 4
Dress up your Christmas tree. The limitation for the flight of imagination is only the weight of the jewelry. Use the lightest materials. Make a Christmas tree garland out of beads and glass beads, glue sequins in the shape of snowflakes, put a spire of gold foil cut in the shape of a pentagonal star or a Christmas angel on top of the top. The thicker the threads you used to make the Christmas tree, the more decorations you can have.
