It is necessary

  • - empty sturdy box;
  • - pieces of fabric;
  • - colored paper;
  • - glue;
  • - varnish;
  • - scissors;
  • - natural materials.

Instructions

Step 1

All stickers and labels must be removed from the surface of the box, the remaining glue must be cleaned off and, if necessary, the bottom must be reinforced with staples. The inner side of the bottom of the box is covered with a thin layer of all-purpose glue and lined with a dense fabric of a suitable color and pattern. The outer part - for contrast, you can paste over with a cloth of a different color, it is advisable to take a dense material, for example, jeans.

Step 2

The inner walls of the box are pasted over with a dense soft cloth; flannel and velvet are well suited. In this part of the box, contrast is not necessary, so you can take the same material as for the bottom. The lid of the box is decorated in the same way, the outer part should be decorated with the same fabric as the walls of the box.

Step 3

Various shapes must be cut out of contrasting fabric and glued to the walls, bottom and lid in the form of a pattern. Make a bouquet, animal figurine or children's toy from colorful elements. If the box is intended as a gift wrapping for your loved one, cut out hearts in different sizes and glue them generously. Similarly, using fabrics of different textures, shades and colors, you can create real landscapes.

Step 4

For gift wrapping, the walls and lid of the box can be decorated with ribbons, satin or lace. Just a couple of drops of glue are enough to attach them. The box can be decorated not only with a cloth, but also with plain colored paper or a wallpaper pattern. But the canvas is a more reliable material and looks more presentable. To make the gift more original, instead of ribbons, you can tie the box with natural twine.

Step 5

If paper is chosen as the basis for the applique, you should give preference to white. On a blank sheet, you can draw any landscape with pastels, pencils or crayons, a gradient is easy to create by simply rubbing in the right place with a piece of paper. Individual elements need to be cut out of bright material and glued over the painting.

Step 6

To make the box look retro, you can use an old newspaper, pictures from postcards, and envelopes instead of paper. In this case, the parts can be slightly burned over the flame along the edges and overlapped on the walls of the box. To make the applique durable, you can cover it with a simple or craquelure varnish on top.

Step 7

Dried leaves, thin birch bark, hay, feathers, buttons and even cinnamon sticks can be used as the final decorations and elements of landscapes to make your work original. All these natural materials fit perfectly into landscape or still life applications. Spray varnish will help to fix the structure, there is even a varnish with glitters and a metal effect.
