Bow is one of the most common types of gift wrapping decoration. There are many ways to tie bows. In addition, they can be made of different materials: well-shaped fabrics (silk, nylon, velvet), special paper tapes and even plastic bags. Bows from ribbons of two or more types look interesting - different colors, widths, textures. Their forms are also varied: soft or hard, clear geometric or fantasy, simple and ascetic or luxuriously lush.

It is necessary

  • - decorative tape;
  • - a piece of narrower tape or wire.

Instructions

Step 1

To make a very effective, lush "terry" bow (or "ball"), take a ribbon of hard material so that the shape of the decoration is the most clear and expressive. Estimate its approximate value, focusing on the size of the package or item that you want to decorate with it. It is necessary to determine the diameter of the future bow.

Step 2

Roll the tape around your palm into several rings (6-8 turns are enough), the diameter of which is equal to the size that you determined.

Step 3

Put the tape folded in this way on the table. In this case, the ends of the tape should be in the middle. At the side folds of the flattened roll, cut off the corners (two on each side), grabbing all the layers of the tape.

Step 4

Now unfold the roll in the shape of a ring. Align the layers of rings in the places where the corners were cut so that the notches are in the middle, and lay flat again on the table (or hold in your hand).

Step 5

With a piece of another, narrower, tape or wire, pull the bow blank tightly in the center with notches and tie.

Step 6

Straighten all the loops of the bow outward in all directions. Start with the inner loops - straighten them alternately in opposite directions. Straighten the next pairs of loops with an even offset around the circumference so that the bow has a beautiful hemisphere shape

Step 7

A variation of this type of bow is a chrysanthemum decoration. Start making it in the same way as for the "terry" bow.

Step 8

At the stage when you tie up its workpiece with another piece of tape or wire, make several longitudinal cuts on both halves of the roll intercepted in the middle (not reaching the center). The number of cuts depends on the width of the tape you are using, but the strips you cut the loops into must be quite narrow to create the chrysanthemum flower effect.

Step 9

Next, carefully straighten the bow loops in the same way as in the method described above. Your chrysanthemum is ready.
