The Pyramid of Cheops is one of the greatest monuments of world culture. The majestic structure of stone with all its appearance reminds of the fragility of man and the transitory nature of our life. According to various experts, tens of thousands of people took part in the construction of the pyramid over many decades. You will hardly be able to repeat the work of the masters, but everyone is quite capable of making an exact copy of the Cheops pyramid.
It is necessary
- - thick cardboard;
- - pencil;
- - protractor;
- - ruler;
- - knife;
- - scissors;
- - paper glue.
Instructions
Step 1
Determine the dimensions of the copy of the Egyptian structure. In this case, proceed from the proportions of a real Cheops pyramid. It is a regular pyramid with a square base; the length of the side of the base is about 230 m. The height of the pyramid is about 147 m. The four side faces of the structure are made in the form of right-angled triangles with an angle of 90 degrees at the top. For your model, it is enough to choose the length of the side of the base, the remaining dimensions are obtained by themselves during construction.
Step 2
Select a sheet of thick cardboard for making a pyramid model. Keep in mind that the sheet should allow you to unfold the pyramid in accordance with the scale you choose.
Step 3
In the center of the sheet, draw a square base with a pencil and ruler. Now, from the outside of the square, attach a right-angled triangle to the base. To do this, use a protractor to set an angle of 45 degrees from the top of the square. Do the same on the other side of the rib. The point of intersection of two lines emanating from the vertices of the square at the selected angle will be the vertex of the future pyramid.
Step 4
Consecutively make similar constructions at the outer sides of the remaining edges of the square base. Now draw narrow trapezoidal strips (valves) on the sides of the triangular side faces; these elements will be needed to glue the pyramid into a single whole.
Step 5
Using scissors, cut out the unfolded pyramid along with the flaps. Before bending the reamer along the lines, run the back (dull) side of the knife along the lines to crush the fibers of the cardboard and make bending easier. Now bend the side edges so that they converge to form a pyramid. Carefully glue the flaps of the adjacent edges together with glue.
Step 6
A reduced copy of the Cheops pyramid is ready. To make the model even more similar to the original, paint it in a suitable color, referring to the photographs of the real structure. Such a model will decorate your desk or other workplace, recalling the boundless creative possibilities of humanity.
