"Nothing has power over time, but even time has no power over the pyramids." What is the secret behind this saying? Silent witnesses to the former greatness of an ancient civilization, the pyramids have been towering over the centuries in the Egyptian desert. If you are unable to get to Giza, make a model of the pyramid with your own hands. Such a model will decorate any interior, forcing you to think from time to time about the mysterious power of the pyramids.
It is necessary
- - a sheet of thick paper (cardboard);
- - pencil;
- - ruler;
- - compasses;
- - eraser;
- - scissors;
- - glue.
Instructions
Step 1
Select the material for making the pyramid model. The easiest way is to make a layout from a sheet of thick paper or thin cardboard. If you are looking to create a more solid and durable structure, use a sheet of tin or plywood. Determine also what the dimensions of the model will be, the choice of material also depends on this. For example, consider the process of creating a paper pyramid.
Step 2
Take a sheet of paper or cardboard of the correct size. First you need to draw a drawing of the pyramid (its development) on paper. Prepare a ruler, pencil, compasses and eraser.
Step 3
For the first method of building a flat pattern, draw a square in the center of the sheet. The length of the sides of the square will determine the future size of the base of the layout. Now adjust the gap of the compass so that it matches the size of the side of the pyramid. Depending on your creative preferences, you are free to choose any height; however, it cannot be less than half the diagonal of the base. The Pyramid of Cheops, for example, with a base length of 230 m, has a height of about 146 m; if you wish, you can try to reproduce these proportions in the layout.
Step 4
Place the needle of the compass at one of the vertices of the base of the pyramid and draw an arc. Now place the compass on the adjacent vertex and do the same without changing the opening of the compass. The intersection point of the two arcs will give the top of the pyramid. Draw one such point for each side of the base. Connect the points to the vertices so that each edge forms a side (face) of the layout.
Step 5
Take your time to cut the flat pattern. Draw a narrow flap on one side of each side edge, with which you will subsequently begin to attach the edges to each other with glue. Cut the ends of each valve at an angle of 30-40 degrees.
Step 6
Now carefully cut out the resulting unrolled pyramid along with the flaps. From the outside, carefully draw a ruler with the blunt end of the scissors along the lines connecting the base of the pyramid to the edges. This is required to keep the folds straight. Do the same with the lines connecting the flaps to the side faces.
Step 7
Bend the side edges along the lines. Connect the layout into a single whole so that it takes the shape of a pyramid. Now sequentially glue the side faces of the model together using the flaps. Once the glue dries, the pyramid layout is ready. If you want, you can color it according to your tastes and preferences. But you should be more careful with your pyramid, because time has power over it.
