The beautiful word "strap" is a strip or strap thrown over the shoulder. The main function of this part is to support clothes, and the material can be absolutely anything: tape, leather, fabric, knitwear, metal chain, silicone, and so on. The main thing is that the straps should hold the thing firmly on the shoulders and look stylish. Knitted items such as a sundress, top, overalls also need stripes that do not stretch or deform. The straps work method is different from the main knitting method.
Instructions
Step 1
Take measurements of future straps - length and width, taking into account the fastening allowance.
Step 2
If the product is crocheted, type a row in the form of a chain of air loops with a length slightly longer than necessary. Crochet in a small size. Knit the second row with double crochets in each loop. It is very convenient to knit each row of a hotel ball of threads in one direction, so it is easier to adjust the desired length (tie, dissolve both rows). Knit as tightly as possible, continue to work to desired width.
Step 3
Sew the straps to the bodice. To prevent the straps from stretching during wear, use a gypsy needle to pass the thread of the main color between the posts along the entire length of the strap, starting from the back. Sew one stitch at the front and pass the thread in the opposite direction again. Pull the ends of the thread, give the straps a comfortable length, leave some stock and secure. You can adjust the size, the strap itself becomes slightly ribbed and looks impressive.
Step 4
If you are working with knitting needles, tie a strip-tourniquet. Stitch the straps with "Swiss patent" or double elastic. Take knitting needles one size smaller than those with which you knitted the thing. Determine the size of the strip from the pattern. Cast on as many loops so that the total width is twice the intended width. Continue to work, knitting each knit, removing the purl on the knitting needle (you get a hollow strap). Having knitted to the desired length, close the loops, sew the top and bottom.
Step 5
Sew the straps to the garment, they turn out to be quite elastic and at the same time do not stretch. You can put an elastic band, tape, fabric into the hollow part before fastening. Try tying the straps by pulling on the initial stitches right at the edge of the back, using two stitches from one main stitch. Work in a tight knit, attach the end of the strip to the front with a special double crocodile fastener.
