A hat scarf is a fashionable and practical accessory, relevant both in winter and in the off-season. It will be a great addition to any style of clothing. Even a novice needlewoman can knit such an accessory.

It is necessary

  • - set of 5 knitting needles
  • - 120-250 g of yarn (depending on the length of the product)

Instructions

Step 1

Before starting knitting, you need to take measurements. Measure the circumference of your head along the line where the bottom edge of the cap will be. Determine the length of the product - start measuring from the forehead towards the crown and further to the intended end of the scarf.

Step 2

On two knitting needles, tie a sample of the elastic and the main pattern, steam it off. Determine the knitting density - calculate the number of loops and rows in 10 cm of knitted fabric.

Step 3

Calculate the loops: multiply the head circumference by the number of loops in 1 cm. Increase the resulting number so that it is a multiple of 4. Calculate the number of loops for the width of the scarf in the same way.

Step 4

Cast on the required number of loops and start knitting with a 1x1 or 2x2 elastic band. In the process of knitting the first row, distribute the loops on 4 knitting needles and close the row into a ring.

Step 5

Continue knitting in a circle. Having knitted 3-5 cm with an elastic band, you can go to the main pattern, or you can continue knitting with an elastic band for the entire length. You can knit a striped scarf, with jacquard patterns or ornaments, as your imagination dictates.

Step 6

At a height of 10-12 cm, you need to start decreasing. To do this, knit the penultimate and last loops of each knitting needle together. Decrease is done after an equal number of rows, approximately every 1-1.5 cm (for example, in every 4th row).

Step 7

When, as a result of the decrease, there are loops on the needles equal to twice the number of loops for the width of the scarf, the decrease can be stopped and knit further on a straight fabric. Having knitted a scarf of the required length, sew the loops of the 1st and 3rd knitting needles, the loops of the 2nd knitting needles - respectively, with the loops of the 4th knitting needle. This will create a straight edge that can be trimmed with tassels or fringes. There is another option - 10-15 cm before the end of knitting, decrease again, as well as at the beginning of knitting, until 2-3 loops remain on the knitting needles. Pull the remaining loops with a working thread, break the thread. This tapered edge can be decorated with one or more pom-poms.

Step 8

Wash the finished product and steam lightly by folding the elongated part in half in the longitudinal direction.
