Currently on the toy market there is a huge selection of wooden ship models with instructions and drawings attached to them. But even more interest and delight are caused by models placed in glass bottles. Try to create this unusual piece yourself.
It is necessary
- -flat transparent glass bottle;
- -wood;
- - thin spring or flexible plastic tube;
- -paints;
- -glue.
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare a clear glass flat bottle. Measure the diameter of the neck. Start by making a ship's hull. Cut it out of wood and divide it into several parts, taking into account the size of the neck. Paint in the desired color. Make masts, rigging, spars, cannons and all the necessary parts. In the process, check whether the elements fit into the neck of the bottle. Assemble the hull and make holes for the masts.
Step 2
There is one peculiarity in the manufacture of masts. At their base, a miniature hinge is hidden, which will allow them to easily fold along the hull of the ship when it is placed in a bottle. You can use a thin spring or flexible plastic tube. The main thing is that the hinges are not visible even upon close examination. That is why special attention should be paid to the elaboration of this mechanism.
Step 3
To hide the hinges, you can paint the mast and hinges dark, or place a small piece of tubing over the mast that moves freely to close the hinge once the mast is upright. However, check the last method for functionality in advance before placing it in the bottle by creating an obstacle with your hand. Although if one of the tubes still does not fit into its place, you can always correct it using a special grip.
Step 4
After you have built the ship on the table, you need to completely disassemble it, that is, remove all parts from the hull and divide the hull itself into shares. You can now proceed with the final assembly inside the bottle using the special tool, which is usually a flexible shaft with a collet at the end. Use long medical needles to apply small drops of glue.
Step 5
Begin assembling the model by placing the body. Try to glue its lobes well and allow time to dry. Then gradually install all the parts, starting with the element farthest from the neck.
