You don't often need to pull new strings on an acoustic guitar. As a rule, this happens if one of them breaks or the strings are on the guitar for a long time. You can replace them with new ones yourself.

Instructions

Step 1

Decide which strings you need. Classic guitars use nylon strings, all others use metal ones. Classical guitar tuners are made of plastic, steel strings can damage them. When choosing both metal and nylon strings, it is best to consult your dealer. The choice will depend on the thickness of the strings, the material of the braid, the manufacturer and the price. Thick strings are stronger and louder, especially when using a pick, but more effort is needed when playing them.

Step 2

The strings need to be removed from the packaging and threaded into the saddle of the guitar. There will be no problems with metal strings, but in order to secure nylon strings, you will have to try a little. This string must first be threaded through the hole in the stand and then wrapped around the long end and the tip tucked between the string and the stand. Now the free end of the string needs to be threaded through the hole in the tuning peg so that the palm passes freely between the neck and the string.

Step 3

For metal and nylon strings, the procedure is the same. Stretch the string gradually by turning the peg. It is better to pull the strings in pairs: first to sixth, second to fifth, third to fourth. With the strings taut, tune the guitar with the tuner or by ear. Now the hanging ends of the strings must be carefully cut with wire cutters.

Step 4

To facilitate the process of stringing the strings, there are special machines that rotate the peg. There are both simple cheap models and expensive devices with a motor and string cutters. Even the simplest typewriter will make your life much easier and save time.
