For the appearance of the knitted product, it is very important how well the fastener is made. Planks need to be given serious attention. They must be made evenly and neatly, do not tighten the product and do not form too large holes at the joints with the main part. This is especially important for products knitted with loose knit from thick soft threads.

It is necessary

  • - yarn from which the product is knitted, or finishing;
  • - knitting needles according to the thickness of the yarn.

Instructions

Step 1

The button placket can be sewn in several ways. If you knit on a machine from thin threads, you can also make it sewn on. For a knitted product, tie the bar directly to the part, or even do it with one blade with the front. In the first case, the drawing will be located in the transverse direction, in the second - the same as on the main part. The first option is used more often.

Step 2

To make a cross bar, dial the required number of loops from the edge of the part. This is a very important point. The number is determined by eye, but there should be neither too few nor too many loops. Think about such a bar before you start knitting the parts to which it will be attached. In this case, it is better not to remove the edge loop, but to knit it so that the joint is elastic.

Step 3

Attach the thread to the beginning of the seam. Slide the knitting needle under the hem, grasping both ends. Pull out the working thread. From the same hem, if necessary, cast on another loop. How many loops to pull from each depends on the density of knitting and the thickness of the threads. For a product that is knitted from soft, thick yarn, one loop may be sufficient. If you use knitting needles one fewer than for the rest of the product, dial two. There may be other schemes: out of three or four edge ones, 1 loop is pulled, the next one is skipped. In any case, see which scheme is right for your product.

Step 4

Think in advance about the pattern with which you will knit the bar. It should look good with the main pattern and at the same time be quite dense. Tie the bar with the front or back stitch, garter stitch, double elastic. Other types of elastic will not work because they either tighten the edge or stretch on their own and look messy.

Step 5

The plank can be made single or double. The first option is suitable for very tight knitting with thick threads, the double plank will look too rough. In this case, knit a strip of the desired width and close the loops. In the second option, mark the beginning of the fold line with a knot of a different color. If you knit the bar with the front satin stitch, then knit the row along which it will bend so that the purl loops are on the front side. Tie the other half of the plank with the front stitch. Tie the free edge to the edge loops or sew with a knitted seam.

Step 6

For a strip with holes, cast on the loops in the same way as in the previous case. Tie it to the line where the holes will be located. It is more convenient to make vertical loops on the transverse bar. To do this, after equal distances, close several loops, and in the next row above the closed ones, type the same. Then knit in the same way as the bar without a hole, to the place of the fold. Mark this line. Work a few more rows, fold the plank over the fold and try on. Make holes for the loops at the hem as well. Calculate them so that when the plank is bent, they are exactly opposite the already existing holes. Buttonholes can be crocheted or overcast with the same thread.

Step 7

Sometimes the strap is knitted in one piece with the product. It can also be double or single. At the beginning of knitting, cast as many loops as required for the main part, for the outer and inner sides of the plank. In this case, it is more convenient to knit a strip of garter stitch or purl stitch (if the pattern is mainly knitted with knit stitches). It is more convenient to make the holes for the buttons horizontal. Having tied to the desired height, close several loops in the middle of the outer and inner sides of the plank, and in the next row type the same number of loops. Make holes equidistant from each other.
