Surely in childhood, each of us faced a situation when we had to repair frayed school textbooks. The owners of these books changed every year and not all of them handled the books with care. And then, carefully gluing the corners, the children learned to extend the life of the books.
It is necessary
- - PVA glue;
- - jigsaw;
- - threads;
- - a vacuum cleaner;
- - polyethylene;
- - scotch tape.
Instructions
Step 1
If your book has not yet had time to wear out, you can prolong its life by preventive methods. For example, you need to remember that printed publications are afraid of sunlight and dampness, so reading in the sun, as well as in the bathroom, near water bodies and in the rain is not recommended. Books do not like dust very much, so they need to be vacuumed at least once a week. In addition, you should not read a book and eat at the same time - it can easily get dirty, and the stains will remain forever. To prevent the "ship of thought" from being spoiled by insects, it must be stored in a glass cabinet. Finally, remember that the book is very disliked by mechanical damage. This means that you should not bend it, put thick objects between the pages, and when turning the pages, in no case should you drool your fingers.
Step 2
Also, for the book to last longer, you need to worry about the cover. The most reliable means of protecting the cover is polyethylene. The film is sold in all hardware stores. And making a cover out of it yourself is quite simple. You just need to cut out a rectangle that fits this book, fold the protruding edges inward and use tape to secure the ends. This cover will protect the corners from rubbing off and prevent the book cover from getting dirty.
Step 3
If the book has already crumbled into pieces of paper, it is still possible to collect and glue it. To do this, you must carefully remove the cover from it. As a result, you should have the sheets stapled in the spine in your hands. For repair work, the book must be fixed with a spine to the master. On it, you need to make small cuts about 3 mm deep with a jigsaw at an equal distance from each other (usually 4 such indentations are enough). Then take PVA glue and pour it onto the spine. Your task is to make it so that it spreads, fills in these cuts, but does not flow out of them. After 5 minutes, take the thread, attach it to one of the ends of the book and start zigzagging it into the cuts. And when you exit the grooves, tighten the thread tighter. When you get to the bottom, do the same operation in the opposite direction. Thus, you will make a kind of string tie for the book.
Step 4
Then you just have to carefully cut the tail of the thread, spread the spine with glue, then tuck the tail and hide it under the binding. Now you put the cover of the book on the spine and gently smooth it with your hands. The book is ready!
