The Christmas tree is the main attribute of the long-awaited New Year's holidays. Nothing beats the fresh pine scent in the house, no decoration will delight households as much as a Christmas tree hung with colorful balls. They usually buy it a few days before the holiday, and the forest guest often leaves the apartment only for Epiphany, so you need to make sure that it retains its appearance for a long time, and its needles do not end up on your floor soon. There are several proven ways to extend the life of a Christmas tree.

Instructions

Step 1

First, if you bought a spruce in advance, keep it in the cold: in the garage or in the garden. If there is no way to store the tree in the cold, then a couple of days before installing it, lower the end of the trunk into a container with water and add 3-4 tablespoons of glycerin to the water.

Step 2

Before bringing the tree into the house, shake it to get rid of old needles.

Step 3

It is better to bring the tree into the room a few hours before you are going to decorate it, as the tree should be warm in the warmth. From frost, the branches will turn out to be fragile, and if you dress up the tree right away, most likely it will easily break them, and the needles will fly to the floor. The base of the trunk should be planed 6-10 cm, and then immersed in hot water for a couple of minutes - resin will be released, which will quickly fill the pores, and the tree will not need a very large amount of water.

Step 4

It is best to place the tree in a bucket of wet sand. Add about a liter of water to a bucket of sand, in which put gelatin or glycerin, or dilute an aspirin tablet and a couple of tablespoons of sugar in it. The lower part of the trunk should be covered with wet sand at least 20cm. Remember to water the sand every 2 days.

Step 5

You can also put the tree in a bucket of water. In this case, in order for the tree to be well preserved, you need to add a little citric acid, gelatin and chalk to the water, or a special nutrient solution bought in a flower shop. Another recipe is to add a spoonful of sugar per liter of water, a spoonful of flower fertilizer and a little bleach to the water. It is also good to put a copper coin on the bottom of a bucket or stand - it kills bacteria.

Step 6

Be sure to add water to the bucket every day, because a tree can "drink" 2-3 liters of water per day. Spray the branches with a spray bottle to keep them fresh longer.

Step 7

And the last rule: never place a spruce near a radiator or heating devices. This will not only dry out the wood prematurely, but also create a fire hazard.
