Amaryllis is a bulbous plant with incredibly beautiful inflorescences. Caring for him at home is very simple, so even a completely inexperienced florist can cope with this task.
Amaryllis is very fond of warmth and light. For this plant, you need to provide a temperature of about 20-25 degrees and regular bright light. It is advisable to place the amaryllis pot on the southeast, southwest or south windowsill.
Water the plant sparingly, while making sure that no water gets on the bulb. Remember that during the dormant period of amaryllis, watering should be reduced to a minimum. Wipe the leaves periodically with a damp cloth. It is not necessary to spray amaryllis, since the humidity of the air does not matter much for it.
In the open field, amaryllis begins to bloom in early spring, and at home - in late autumn. A peduncle grows from the bulb, the length of which is about 50 cm.
During flowering, amaryllis needs regular feeding. A special fertilizer for flowering plants should be applied once a week.
Amaryllis does not need to be replanted every year; it is enough to change the top nutrient layer. The transplant is usually done every three years. The soil for planting can be made up of equal parts of sod and leafy soil, a small amount of ash, peat and humus.
As for diseases, amaryllis is susceptible to gray rot. The main reason is the stagnation of moisture in the pot. Special antifungal drugs and normalization of watering will help to cure the plant.
