In the past, technical progress posters often featured punched tape. Today, one of the symbols of advanced technology has become a barcode. But how can you correctly portray it on a poster?

Step 1
Take a look at the real barcodes. Today you don't have to go far for them - they are available on almost every package. Check out their components: stripes of various thicknesses, numbers. Note the fact that some of the stripes are slightly longer than others, but only on the lower side (where the numbers are located). Also note that the numbers are either eight or thirteen. But there are also non-standard barcodes.
Step 2
Never render a barcode in a conventional orthographic projection on a poster. It will look unnatural. Draw an object on which such a code is usually placed in such a way that the latter is located on the side. If the surface of the object in the place where the code is located is curved (for example, on a newspaper), then the code itself must repeat the shape of this surface.
Step 3
Having depicted an object, draw thin, barely noticeable lines at the location of the barcode with a parallelogram, repeating in a reduced form the projection of the side wall of this object. Then, looking at any real barcode, write the same in the parallelogram. If desired, use a regular ruler to draw lines. Do not try to convey the code exactly, just make some lines thicker than others, and the first, middle and last ones a little longer. The numbers under the code write randomly selected ones, but their number should be the same as under the real code. The first digits for plausibility must correspond to the code of any state (for example, for Russia - 46).
Step 4
Take an eraser and carefully erase the parallelogram without deleting the barcode or other parts of the drawing. If necessary, restore the hatching or coloring if it is damaged in any way after removing the parallelogram.
Step 5
There are also so-called 2D codes. They are more modern than barcodes and carry more information. Depict such a code on a poster, also having previously familiarized yourself with how the real one looks.
