Crochet is a very popular type of needlework. Despite the light flair of old-fashionedness, this hobby is increasingly capturing modern young ladies. By combining different elements to your liking, you can create a small masterpiece. Many basic elements are oval shaped. If you follow certain rules, it is not difficult to tie it.

Instructions
Step 1
An oval is essentially an extended circle. To get a visual idea of how it can be knitted, first make a paper pattern. Use a pencil to draw a life-size sketch of the oval. Measure the length of the largest (D1) and smallest diameters (D2). According to the attached formula, calculate the length of the segment D3 = D1-D2.
Step 2
Obviously, any oval can be conditionally divided into 3 constituent elements: a rectangle in the center and two semicircles on the sides. To correctly tie an oval, you need to have a clear idea of how the circle is knitted: 1st row: tie a chain of 6 air loops, close it into the ring using a connecting column. 2nd row: 3 air loops (lifting column), 1 double crochet in the same air loop, then 2 double crochets in each air loop of the ring. Connect the last column of the row with the first using a connecting column. 12 stitches in total, including the lifting column. 3rd row: 3 air loops (lifting column), * 2 double crochets in the next loop of the previous row, 1 double crochet **. Repeat from * to ** 5 times. 2 double crochet in the next loop of the previous row, close the row with a connecting post. 4th and subsequent rows knit according to the scheme of the 3rd row.
Step 3
Start knitting an oval (the element is knitted in a circle): 1st row: tie a chain of air loops with a length equal to D3 in accordance with the above calculation formula. Additionally tie 3 more air loops (this will be the first column of the 2nd row - the lifting column). 2nd row: count 3 loops back and in the 4th loop tie 2 more double crochets - this will be the conditional center of one of the semicircles. Next, tie a row of double crochets: one column in each stitch. In the last chain loop, knit 3 double crochets - this will be the conditional center of the second semicircle. Unwrap the knit 180 degrees clockwise and crochet, one in each stitch of the base. At the end, as usual, close the row with a connecting post. 3rd row: 3 air loops (lifting column), 1 double crochet in the same loop, then * 2 double crochets in each loop of the previous row **. Repeat from * to ** 2 times. Next, knit one double crochet in each loop of the previous row until you reach the knitting turn, where in the previous row 3 double crochets were knitted into one loop of the base. Repeat * to ** 3 times. Next, knit one double crochet in each loop of the previous row. Close with a connecting post. The base of our oval is ready.
Step 4
The 4th and all subsequent rows are knitted in the same way: 3 air loops (lifting column), 1 double crochet in the same loop, 1 double crochet in the next loop, * 2 double crochets in one loop of the previous row, 1 double crochet into the next loop **. Repeat from * to ** several times until you finish knitting that part of the row that belongs to the semicircle (with each row, the number of repetitions from * to ** will increase). Next, knit one double crochet in each loop of the previous row until you reach the beginning of the second semicircle. Repeat from * to ** as many times as necessary. Next, knit one double crochet in each loop of the previous row. Close with a connecting post.
