The advantage of a do-it-yourself children's table is that attention is paid not only to the quality of materials, but also to the quality of the assembly. The assembly technology is not complicated, the main thing is correct calculations.
There are plenty of children's tables in stores, but they cannot always be matched to the interior of the room, especially if natural materials are required. Most often, in such cases, they turn to firms that manufacture custom-made furniture, since it is not easy to make a children's table with your own hands. Although, the latter option is not excluded even for those who have not come across furniture production. It is important to understand the principle of assembling the table, the technology of working with materials and make the correct calculations.
Children's table blanks
It is impossible to make a children's table from scratch, without a work space. The fact is that natural wood must be carefully processed. The result is a lot of sawdust, debris and fine dust. Without such a workshop, you still have to turn to professionals to make the main parts of the table. The latter are four bars of the power body, the same number of legs and one tabletop.
Assembling a children's table made of wood
Before assembling a wooden children's table, you will need to adjust the blanks to your child's height. Saw off the excess length of the legs, check the correct cutting and be sure to check the accuracy of the corners of the table top. The cuts must be carefully sanded. To do this, use sandpaper or an electric sander.
It is necessary to make two grooves on each leg of the wooden table. Make a mark beforehand so that all grooves are at the same level and the same size. Then clamp the leg into a clamp and, using a drill and cutters, cut a rectangular groove. Flip the leg 90 degrees and make another groove. Repeat this operation for the rest of the legs.
In the bars of the power case, you need to cut out the connecting elements. Their length must match the grooves. Mark it on the blocks on both sides and make cuts with a hacksaw. Then, with a sharp knife, cut off all excess, adjusting the connecting elements to the grooves.
Assemble the table base. Check the correct angles and tightness of all parts. Adjust table elements if necessary. Use a pencil to make notes to avoid confusion. Lubricate the joints with wood glue and reassemble the structure.
Having made the base of the children's table with your own hands, proceed to fixing the tabletop. Place the top of the table top on the floor, and on top place the upside-down table base. Mark the location of the legs and, after removing the base, locate the center of each leg. At this point, put a point. Make similar marks on the legs themselves. In these places, drill grooves for wooden spikes.
After inserting the thorns, assemble the table. Check if everything fits. After that, grease the grooves with wood glue, insert the spikes and press the tabletop firmly against the base of the table. After the glue has dried, your table is ready for use. A child at such a table can have lunch and study. If you wish, you can varnish the table.
