Put any button of the desired size in the knitted circle and knit the third row, grabbing two unfinished loops each, with a crochet. The last row is knitted in two unfinished loops without a crochet. Buttons crocheted on the basis of a ring made of a hard material (metal, plastic) can be made very easily. To do this, the ring of the required diameter must be tied with a number of columns (do not make a yarn over), finish with a half-column. Leave the thread to fasten its end for further work. Then carefully mend the middle of the button with the remaining thread, trying to make the darning thickly. This model is suitable for large buttons.

You can knit smaller buttons in another way. Tie the base ring with a number of columns (do not make a crochet), tie another row of the same at the back of the loops of the first row. Tighten the last thread, use its end to sew on the button. Then turn the second row of loops to the center of the button, collect the edges with a thread and tighten.

Small buttons can also be made on the basis of a small disk, for example, a closed button made of any material, that is, a knitted case can be wrapped around the button. To do this, you need to make a chain of air loops (for a small button 3 loops) and close the ring with a half-column. Then make a row of 2 stitches and 14 stitches from the center of the crochet ring. The next two rows are made from single crochet behind the back of the loops. At the end of the work, cut the thread and sew the edge of the case, put a button in it and tighten the thread.

Cylindrical buttons are easy to make. The base is a cylindrical blank, the material can be plastic, wood, metal.
