Demet Akalın is a popular Turkish singer, former model and actress. Thanks to her songs, since the mid-2000s, she has become one of the most recognizable figures in Turkish pop music.
Biography
Demet Akalyn was born in Goljuk, Kocaeli on April 23, 1972.
After graduating from Gölcük Barbaros Hayrettin High School, she decides to enter the Faculty of Journalism. But he fails his exams. Then, at the insistence of his mother, Demet takes courses in modeling skills from Yasher Alptekin. And at the age of 18 she wins the Miss Mayo beauty pageant. Then he concludes a contract for 6 years with the Neşe Erberk modeling agency.
Creation
In parallel with work in a modeling agency, Demet takes acting lessons. Thanks to her bright appearance and artistry, she is invited to take part in the filming of the film "Günlerden Pazar", which was released in 1992. Demet liked the filming process so much that he subsequently agreed to work in two films at once. Both films, Tele Anahtar and Sensiz Olmaz, were released in 1994.
But work in a modeling agency and participation in the filming of films is not limited to it. Demet tries on the role of a singer in a casino. And in 1996 he released his first studio album "Sebebim". In the same year, she ends her modeling career and devotes herself to music.
Career
In June 2003 Demet released his second album "Unuttum". Almost all the songs were written by Ursay Uneroy. The album includes hits such as "Gazete" and "Allahından Bul".
But she gains real fame after the release of the album "Banane" in 2004. 40,000 copies were sold under the Seyhan Müzik label. The poems for this album were written by Serdar Ortach and Yildiz Tilbe. And clips were shot for the songs Bittim, Aşkın Açamadığı Kapı, Banane, Vuracak, Bir Anda Sevmiştim, Tamamdır, Pembe Dizi and Adam Gibi. In the same year, at the 12th Turkey Music Awards, she won the Best Pop Artist and Song of the Year awards.
Released in the summer of 2006, the album "Kusursuz 19" again elevates Demet to the top of popularity. The album sold 147,000 copies and was certified gold by Mü-Yap. The song "Afedersin" was in the first lines of the charts for 7 weeks. And the single “Everyone is Alive” won the “Best Song” prize at the 13th Turkey Music Awards.
After the triumph, Demet Akalyn takes a two-year break. And only in March 2008 he released his fifth studio album "Dans Et". The album sold 128,000 copies, received critical acclaim and a gold certification from Mü-Yap.
Since 2010, Demet's popularity has been falling. The most disastrous album is "Rekor", which was released in April 2014. Then she signs a contract with the Doğan music company. And in 2015 the album "Pırlanta" is released. Thanks to competent PR-advertising, the album is sold in a circulation of 105,000 copies and receives a gold certificate from DMC.
Personal life
Demet Akalyn's personal life is full of both joy and disappointment. In the past, Demet met with basketball player Ibrahim Qutluai. However, the relationship comes to an end when Ibrahim begins dating model Demet Shaner.
In 2006, she married businessman Oguz Kayhan, but in 2007 they divorced. After a while, they again decide to get back together. However, in October 2008, Demet finally breaks off relations with Oguz. The reason was her husband's infidelity.
In January 2010, Demet gets married again. The chosen one is businessman Ender Bekenzir. But, like her first marriage, this one also ends in a few months. In July, the couple goes to court over serious disagreements and are divorced within 20 minutes.
Her third marriage was registered in April 2012 with Okan Kurt. The marriage lasted 6 years and on September 11, 2018, Demet separated from her husband Okan Kurt.
