It is necessary

  • - button;
  • - a thread;
  • - needle;
  • - thimble;
  • - scissors.

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the necessary tools and materials. You will need the button itself, a thimble, a medium sewing needle and thread. If the button is lost, pick up the same one; if this fails, you may need to replace all the buttons on the jacket.

Step 2

Choose the thread so that it matches the color of the button, or at least harmonizes with it. The length of the thread should be sufficient (about 40 cm). Thread the thread through the eye of the needle and fold it in half, tying a knot at the ends. It will work more conveniently if you can find a needle with a large eye. If the thread still does not want to penetrate the needle, use a special device for threading it, which is a specially twisted thin wire.

Step 3

Mark the place on the jacket where you will sew the button. If a button has just come off or when you yourself cut a loose button, then the remnants of the thread remaining on the clothes will help you find a place for attaching.

Step 4

If no thread remains on the garment, use the barely visible dots where the button used to be as a guide. And it is best to determine the right place by buttoning the jacket completely. In this case, the corresponding empty loop will indicate where the button should be sewn. At this point, insert the needle and thread from the wrong side of the jacket.

Step 5

Attach the button to the attachment point. Place a regular match between the fabric and the button. Make the stitches so that they are alternately located on either side of the match. This is to ensure that the button does not sit too tightly, otherwise it will be difficult to fasten. If you are using a leg button, you will not need a match.

Step 6

Sew about ten stitches to secure the button securely to the jacket. If you have a button with four holes, arrange the stitches so that they are parallel in the holes of the button without overlapping. When finished, carefully remove the match.

Step 7

Bring the rest of the thread to the wrong side of the jacket and secure with two or three stitches. Cut the thread after tying a knot on it. The button is sewn on, you can go for a walk - towards new adventures.
