DIY soap has become a very common gift. To present the fruit of your labors in the best possible way, make for it the original packaging in the form of a box or casket.
Instructions
Step 1
Glue a suitable cardboard box together. On the sheet, draw a net of the corresponding shape. For example, for a rectangular soap, you will need a parallelepiped unfolding. The measurements of its sides should be 1 cm larger than the sides of the soap.
Step 2
Unfold the shape, make up four identical rectangles touching the long sides. On the sides of one of the parts, draw a square with a side equal to the width of the rectangles.
Step 3
Add valves to connect the sides of the box. Attach them to the sides of the square. Add the same detail to the outside of one of the rectangles.
Step 4
Cut out the resulting shape. Attach a ruler to the fold lines and draw them with a blunt, hard object - in this case, the folds will be perfectly even. Lubricate the flaps with glue and press them against the inside of the box. The flap on the long side can be glued or secured with tape tied around the box.
Step 5
For a streamlined soap, make a package that follows its shape. From sculptural plasticine, mold a figure that resembles soap, but 0.5-1 cm more. Cut this workpiece lengthwise into two equal halves. They will match the halves of the future box.
Step 6
Cover the convex part of the plasticine molds with pieces of paper using the papier-mâché technique. Apply the soaked paper in even rows, smearing every second with PVA. Leave the blanks to dry at room temperature for 2-3 days.
Step 7
Remove the finished halves from the plasticine. If their surface is not even enough, try sanding it with emery paper or leveling it with paper glue. Connect the parts, gluing a strip of fairly thick paper or thin cardboard on one side.
Step 8
To decorate the box, cover it with a cloth, paint it with acrylics or decorate it using decoupage technique.
Step 9
You can put a bar of round soap in a shell-shaped jewelry box. Make it using the papier-mâché technique and paint with a mother-of-pearl effect.
