Skiing attracts everyone, both children and adults. In order for this activity to bring a lot of pleasure, it is necessary to properly prepare the skis before skiing. Skis will glide perfectly if their surface structure matches the structure of the snow. For this, the surface must be treated with paraffins (sliding ointments), appropriate to weather conditions.

Instructions

Step 1

If you are going for a long walk, it is best to use hard paraffin wax. Use a special iron to apply it. Move the paraffin block over the heated surface of the iron, and then melt it directly from the iron onto the surface of the skis. Or, heat a block of paraffin wax on an iron and smear the heated wax block on the ski. This must be done quickly. It doesn't matter which method you use. The main thing is that you apply such an amount of paraffin so that it spreads over the entire surface of the ski evenly, with a thickness of 0.3 - 1 mm. Use a hot iron to smooth the applied paraffin on the ski.

Step 2

With this method of processing, you need to be very careful. Use cotton gloves to protect your hands. And also, in order not to overheat and not burn the surface of the skis, set the minimum iron temperature at which the paraffin melts. Run the iron quickly over the surface, without frequent repetitions in one place and without delay. Run the heated iron only over the surface of the ski to which you have applied the paraffin. That is, do not allow direct contact of the sole of the iron with the surface of the ski without paraffin in order to avoid damage to them. When using the iron for a long time, carefully clean its surface with a rag.

Step 3

When using ointments for ski glide, lubricate under the block with a holding ointment. This will provide good propulsion during movement, and the skis will not slip backward, but on the descent, on the contrary, will contribute to a good ride. The last is the central part of the ski, which starts from the heel of the boot to the binding, about 60-70 cm. Lubricate this part of the ski with a holding ointment and rub it with a rubbing cork. You should have an even, slightly shiny layer.
