The skis became difficult to glide and you no longer enjoy skiing. The reason, as a rule, lies in the untimely or poor-quality ski maintenance. Therefore, it is important to be able not only to store skis, but also to handle them.

Instructions

Step 1

Paraffin treatment of skis is carried out to protect the sliding surface from oxidation, as well as to drain water that forms during the contact of skis with snow. To remove wax, use a remover (a special blend of the family of aliphatic solvents) or scrubbing. It must be remembered here that the remover removes the ground (base) paraffin, and therefore this method is only good if you decide to perform the wax application procedure from scratch.

Step 2

If you are not pursuing this goal, then use scrapers. Remember that while maintaining the primer, you can later use different types of wax depending on the weather conditions.

Step 3

Buy a special ski mount in the store or make it yourself (this is necessary so that the ski has a support along its entire length). You will also have to buy scrapers made of organic glass or plastic. They usually have a thickness of 3 to 5 mm. The thicker scraper allows for tougher machining. By the way, the scraper can also be made by yourself.

Step 4

To avoid the formation of a concave or convex surface, evenly pressing with a scraper, pass it several times from the tip of the ski to its back. To avoid severe damage to the surface, sweep the scraper smoothly, without disruption.

Step 5

Periodically clean the paraffin wax from the scraper. To give the tool the appropriate sharpness, if necessary, finish it with sandpaper.

Step 6

Finish the groove and edges of the skis carefully. To do this, use scrapers of the appropriate shape. Remove wax residues with a stiff nylon brush. Making short, even movements, walk it along the ski.

Step 7

Use the hot method to clean the sliding surface from dirt, grease or when radically changing paraffins. To do this, using a special iron (you can also use a regular household iron), apply paraffin to the ski surface, without waiting for the paraffin to completely solidify, remove it with a scraper. Please note that with the right approach during your actions, a kind of roller is formed in front of the scraper, consisting of paraffin of dirt and the remnants of ointments.
