Lace masks worn by women of fashion during the famous Venetian carnivals drove the gentlemen crazy. Masks were sewn from luxurious fabrics, woven on bobbins and shuttles. A lace carnival mask can be crocheted, and it will look no worse than the old one.
It is necessary
- 25 g cotton thread "iris"
- Wire in the color of the threads
- Braid in the color of the threads
- Hook # 1, 5 or 2
- Beads
- Needle and thread
- Paper
- Pencil
- Starch
- Water
- Container for starching
Instructions
Step 1
Draw the outlines of the mask on the paper. To make the mask symmetrical, it is better to fold the sheet in half and draw one half of the mask. The bridge will match the fold of the sheet. Mark the slits for the eyes. Cut out the pattern, try it on and adjust.
Step 2
Start knitting the mask from the bridge of the nose. Tie an 8-20 stitches chain, then make 2 lifts. Knit the first row with simple single crochets, column to column. Tie 3-4 more rows in this way, making air loops on the rise at the beginning of each row.
Step 3
Then knit an openwork mesh according to the scheme: 1 double crochet, 1 air loop over the previous row. In the next row, knit double crochets over the crochets, and chain stitches above the air stitches. Start adding loops along the pattern. At the end of each row, knit 3 stitches in one at the bottom of the mask and 2 stitches in one at the top of the mask.
Step 4
Having tied to the hole, divide the knitting into 2 parts, approximately in the middle of the initial chain. Knit the upper part, stopping adding loops along the upper cut. In place of the hole, gradually reduce the loops along the pattern, knitting together 2 columns in each row. Work 3-5 rows like this, then stop decreasing stitches and knit several rows straight.
Step 5
Add loops in the pattern along the middle of the glasses, knitting 2 columns into the column of the previous row. Knit the upper part of the glasses straight or with a slight bend, depending on the pattern. After tying to where the hole ends, break the thread and tighten the loop where the hole ends.
Step 6
Knit the bottom half in the same way. Add columns along the bottom edge of the glasses and subtract along the cut of the hole in the same way as you did when knitting the top. When you reach the end of the hole, tie the halves together again and subtract the stitches from both sides, from the bottom by 3, from the top by 2. Tighten the last loop and break the thread. Return to the bridge of the nose and tie the other half of the mask symmetrically.
Step 7
Bend the wire along the outline of the pattern. Solder the edges or join them together with a piece of ballpoint pen. Tie the mask to the wire with single crochets to help keep it in shape. You can tie the mask with teeth around the perimeter. You can decorate the mask with beads.
Step 8
Cook the starch paste and starch the mask. Medium starch is preferred, but can be starch and hard. Tie a string or take a matching colored braid and tie to the edges of the mask.
