On Victory Day, May 9, 2019, the famous Russian journalist Sergei Dorenko passed away. He passed away a few months before his 60th birthday. Dorenko became famous mainly thanks to his harsh and uncompromising statements about famous businessmen, officials, and politicians. After leaving television, he worked in radio for over 15 years. Over the years of his journalistic activity, he made many enemies, which gave his older children a reason to suspect a criminal trace in the death of their father.
Circumstances of death
Sergei Dorenko loved motorcycles and died while riding his beloved "iron horse". The journalist decided to spend the Victory Day holiday behind the wheel, going on a trip to Kostroma. According to his entourage, he liked to travel around Russia, to get acquainted with new places. On the way back, the journalist stopped by a good friend - the writer and specialist in Chinese culture Bronislav Vinogrodsky. They chatted briefly on the veranda. Ironically, the conversation between the friends was about death and immortality.
Vinogrodsky became the last person from Dorenko's entourage who saw him alive. He noted that the journalist complained of high blood pressure and flies in front of his eyes, but did not take any medication with him. Sergey Leonidovich also refused the offer to stay with a friend with an overnight stay. After a short rest, he continued on his way to Moscow.
Death overtook Dorenko in the center of the capital while driving along Zemlyanoy Val Street. Suddenly, he lost control of the motorcycle, drove into the oncoming lane and crashed into a bump stop. Witnesses of the accident called an ambulance for the victim. Arriving doctors ascertained the journalist's clinical death. Unfortunately, the resuscitation actions carried out were not crowned with success.
The forensic medical examination named a ruptured aneurysm of the thoracic aorta as the cause of Dorenko's death. This pathological condition leads to cardiac tamponade, a process in which accumulated blood blocks the heartbeat and death occurs instantly.
It is worth noting that the journalist was aware of his health problems. His widow later provided the police with medical documents and ultrasound reports. According to Yulia Dorenko, her husband was diagnosed with aortic aneurysm in 2016. Surgical treatment of pathology by doctors was not considered. As a preventive measure, the deceased regularly took drugs that lower blood pressure.
President Vladimir Putin and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin expressed their condolences to the journalist's family.
Scandalous funeral
Sergei Dorenko became famous for his loud, scandalous statements and revelations. However, he could hardly have thought that his own death would entail another round of dirty family squabbles. The scandal was initiated by the journalist's eldest daughters from his first marriage - Ekaterina and Ksenia. He was married to their mother for 23 years, and the reason for the divorce was Dorenko's love affair. While working at the Russian News Service, he became interested in his young colleague Yulia Silyavina. She gave birth to a married journalist two children - daughters Varvara and Vera. Finally, in 2013, after lengthy proceedings and the division of property, Dorenko filed for divorce from his first wife and legalized relations with his new darling. In addition to two daughters, his ex-wife gave him a son, Prokhor, who calmly accepted his father's departure from the family. But Ekaterina and Ksenia were never able to forgive the journalist for betrayal, so in recent years they had very little contact with him.
Nevertheless, after Dorenko's death, the girls immediately announced their suspicions about his new wife. They demanded additional examinations to find evidence of poisoning. In addition, the elder daughters of the journalist seemed suspicious of the widow's order of cremation. They believed that in this way the woman seeks to destroy any evidence. The activities of Catherine and Ksenia led to the postponement of the official date of farewell to Dorenko. Instead of May 12, friends and colleagues were able to see him on his last journey only on the 17th. Additional studies of the body of the deceased did not reveal signs of poisoning.
According to the widow, the journalist wanted to be cremated after death, like his father. For the farewell ceremony, he pre-selected the song Bridge over Troubled Water by the duo Simon and Garfunkel. Also, according to Dorenko's will, part of his ashes was buried in the Alley of Journalists, located on the territory of the Troekurovsky cemetery. And he bequeathed the second part to be dispelled on Mount Mithridates in Kerch, where he was born and often visited his grandmother.
Hundreds of fans, colleagues, friends and even bikers came to parting with Dorenko. After all, to some extent he belonged to this brotherhood and even ended his earthly journey, racing on his favorite motorcycle.
