Drawing is a great way to develop your imagination. After all, artists periodically have to depict what they have not seen in reality. You can develop this ability in yourself with the help of a simple exercise: drawing a non-existent animal.
Instructions
Step 1
It is not so difficult to draw a non-existent animal. The main thing is to be able to clearly imagine it and remember all the details. You can start developing your imagination by compiling: mentally composing an animal whose body parts belong to different types: the head of a horse, the body of a lion, the legs of a chicken, etc. Each time, the imagination will become more obedient and responsive, creating images without additional effort. After you learn how to create collective images, you can move on to the image of "thematic" species of animals: for example, living on other planets, in fairy tales, etc.
Step 2
Start drawing a non-existent animal from the head. Pay special attention to the place of its connection with the body - since it belongs to another species, the transition cannot be standard. Try different options: additional folds of skin, neck angle, neck length. When starting to depict the body of a non-existent animal, do not be afraid to experiment: replace wool with feathers, change color. Pay special attention to the paws: try placing them slightly differently than they usually are. By changing the angle of the joints, you can change the posture and character of the animal: it can become proud, aggressive, dignified, etc.
Step 3
At first, it is best to use a simple pencil: at this stage it is important to learn how to create a general look without drawing details. Observe ordinary animals, learn to memorize the peculiarities of their postures and movements. When you can confidently and effortlessly create images of non-existent animals in your imagination and transfer onto paper, you can complicate the task: start drawing them with colored pencils or paints. This will help you learn how to more realistically depict texture: skin, wool, hooves, wings, etc.
