During the game, the child is constantly in motion, so it is best to write a child's portrait from photographs or cursory sketches. On them, you can safely examine the "documented" posture and facial expression of the child. Well, to give the portrait liveliness and spontaneity is precisely the task of the artist.

It is necessary

Large canvas, brown pastel pencil, flat brush # 8, palette, acrylic paints, can of water

Instructions

Step 1

Sketch the composition. Draw the outlines of the future composition with a brown pastel pencil. Mark out the facial features and areas of light and shadow. When drawing from life, measure angles and proportions with a pencil.

Step 2

Sketch in darker tones. Add some dark red paint to the raw umber for a deep brown. Take a # 8 brush and paint those dark areas on the child's hair. Then dilute this paint with water and paint shadows on the girl's face, head, arms and legs. Mix blue-gray paint and cobalt blue. Draw the folds in the girl's jumpsuit and the soles of the girl's sneakers.

Step 3

Write your hair. Paint in areas of intermediate medium tone on the girl's blonde hair and on her face with a pale mixture of yellow ocher and whitewash with the addition of blue-gray paint. Leave areas in your hair where the canvas surface will show through the paint.

Step 4

Write flesh tones. Mix a light flesh tone from yellow ocher and white with scarlet paint. Dissolve the mixture well with water. Paint the girl's face, arms and legs by applying this second coat of paint directly over the darker areas. For those where you want to lighten the tone, add a little whitewash to the paint. To warm up the intermediate skin tones on the girl's face, add some scarlet paint to the mixture.

Step 5

Write a jumpsuit. The main color here is cobalt blue. Where it is necessary to paint warm shadows, a gray-blue is added to the main paint, and where it is necessary to show cold shadows, Prussian blue. Write the lightest areas of the overalls in cobalt blue with the addition of white and the flesh tone remaining on your palette. Apply the paint in a very thin layer and in such a way that brush strokes remain on the surface of the painting. They will recreate the texture of denim.

Step 6

Add textured details. Draw the stripes on the girl's sneakers with Prussian blue, and then deepen the folds on her jumpsuit with the same paint. The drawing is ready.
