Instructions

Step 1

First you need to create a canvas with a resolution of 300 dpi. Fill the background with black as it will be difficult to work on a white background. Next, make a new layer. To do this, select the Elliptical marquee tool, hold down the shift key and create a circle for the future bubble on a black background.

Step 2

Open Edit, then Stroke and set the width to about 10px. It should be gray and Location -> "Center". Click OK. Save the result, open Window, then Channels and "Save selection as channel", then "Alpha", and the layer will be created automatically in the Channel tab. Press Ctrl + D to blur the outline of the circle. Open Filter, Blur, Gaussian Blur and set a value between 11 and 15. Adjust the blur strength of the circle's edges.

Step 3

Open Window, then Channels, hold Ctrl and click on the Alpha layer you saved.

To create a new layer, open Edit, then Stroke, select a width of 1px. The color should be white and the Location -> "Center". Click OK. Reduce the opacity of the layer to 10%.

Step 4

Decrease the previous layer with a blurred circle by 90%, there will be a blur inside the created path.

Make another layer. Select the brush, apply "Hardness to 0%" and create a blur. Select the speck by opening Window, then Channels, hold Ctrl and click on the Alpha layer. To make the stain bigger, open Filter, Distort, Pinch and set the value around to 60.

Step 5

To create another bright spot on the previous spot, select the brush and set the "hardness" to 100%.

Paint around the bottom of the bubble with a soft-edged brush. Make a selection on all layers and merge them, as well as around the bubble and invert (Ctrl + I) the selection.

Step 6

Save the document in Edit, Define Brush Preset, select "Brush Tip shape" and start painting on the image. Set the transparency to white. Use Filter, Pixelate, Color Halftone on the gray background of the circle to depict the interplay of colors on the surface. Remove the blurry borders and lower the opacity. The soap bubble is ready.
