Children's portrait is a peculiar and interesting genre of fine art. The proportions of a child's face differ from that of an adult. The child has big eyes, softer nose and chin lines. In order to draw a portrait of a boy, first of all, it is necessary to determine the shape of the face and proportions and sketch them with a pencil.

It is necessary

  • - paper;
  • - hard and soft pencils.

Instructions

Step 1

Consider the boy's face. See which geometric shape it most resembles. Children, like adults, have oval, round, triangular and square faces. Of course, the last two forms are rather arbitrary, the corners will be strongly rounded, but nevertheless. With a square face, the width of the chin is quite wide, and the width of the forehead is approximately equal to the total height of the face. With a triangular shape, the chin is rather sharp, and the forehead is much wider than the lower part of the boy's face.

Step 2

Select a view and draw a centerline. It will pass exactly between the eyebrows, in the middle of the bridge of the nose and divide the lips and chin into equal parts. If you are drawing a face from the front, the halves should be symmetrical. This is an easy option as it does not require building a perspective. However, to convey a character, especially such a mobile and charming creature like a little boy, this is not the best option. Therefore, the line can be positioned at a slight angle to the horizontal.

Step 3

Determine the approximate ratio of the right and left halves of the face. The one that will be built at an acute angle between the axial and horizontal cut of the sheet will be slightly wider, because it is turned closer to the viewer. Construct an oval with the desired ratio of the long and short axes. It should match the shape of the head.

Step 4

Divide the part of the centerline between the future chin and crown of the head into 6 or 7 equal parts. If the boy is small, there will be 6 parts. In a teenager, the proportions of the face are already reminiscent of adults, so the parts will turn out to be smaller.

Step 5

Draw on the sides of the centerline of the lips, nose wings, eyes, eyebrows, and hair. This can be done with dots or strokes. Determine the best for the ears if the boy has a short hair and ears are visible. Draw two vertical strokes for the neck.

Step 6

Look at the proportions of the most important parts of the face. This is the ratio of the length and width of the eyes and the distance between their inner corners, the width of the wings of the nose to the bridge of the nose, the thickness and length of the lips. Mark the proportions with dots.

Step 7

Pay attention to the shape of your boy's eyes. In children, racial traits are as pronounced as in adults. In a boy with a European or African type of face, the width of the eyes will be approximately 2/3 of their length, in the Mongoloid it is from 1/4 to 1/3. Draw a line of hair.

Step 8

Draw in the main parts of the face. At this stage, draw all the paths with a hard, thin pencil. Mark the eyelids, eyebrows, bridge of the nose and wings of the nose, lips. Draw the ears, having previously determined the ratio of their height to the total head height.

Step 9

Remove extra lines. Outline the contours of the face with a softer pencil. Sketch out the neck, collar of a shirt or T-shirt.

Step 10

Outline the eyes, lips and nose with a soft pencil. Draw the teeth. Apply mimic folds. For example, if a boy smiles, he will develop small wrinkles under the eyes and between the wings of the nose and the corners of the mouth.
