According to Prince Myshkin from the novel by F. M. Dostoevsky's "The Idiot", beauty will save the world. The world should have more beautiful faces, even painted ones, and then it will definitely become kinder and brighter. Therefore, the ability to draw beautiful human faces is, one might say, a whole mission to save humanity.
Instructions
Step 1
Remember that a pretty face is not always a face with perfect features. You can also look at the portrait of an eighty-year-old woman, if it is skillfully drawn. Therefore, in order to learn how to draw beautiful faces, learn to draw realistically. The slightest inaccuracies in their totality will give a comical effect, the face will turn out to be ugly, lifeless.
Step 2
Select the person whose face you would like to paint. It may be someone you know, or maybe you want to portray someone from famous personalities. Only in the first case you will be able to draw from life, and in the second it is unlikely. However, it is better to start drawing portraits with photographs. To do this, take the photo you like and place it in a transparent envelope or file. Draw a grid with even cells on top of the film. On a piece of paper, draw another grid with cells proportional to the size of the sheet.
Step 3
Transfer the contours of the face from the photo to the sheet with a hard pencil. Keep the lines of this contour light and light so that later they can be easily erased or shaded. Pay special attention to the contours: their accuracy is the first guarantee of the realism of your portrait.
Step 4
Start painting your portrait from the eyes. Do not forget about glare, about subtle stripes on the iris of the eye, about volume. When drawing eyelashes, do not press too hard on the pencil - the lines will turn out to be oily and rough.
Step 5
Add volume to your face. This is a very difficult stage of work. You will have to divide the entire face into many small surfaces in order to clearly understand all the bends of the planes. Be very careful with blending shadows and partial shadows, perform them with soft materials and shade.
Step 6
Do not avoid small wrinkles, dimples, irregularities of the face, do not try to draw a face more beautiful than it is - these small details, perhaps, only complement the image, and without them the face will not look so beautiful. In general, as the heroine of the novel by Charles Dickens said " Oliver Twist "," painters always paint a lady more beautiful than they really are, otherwise they would not have customers."
