Before you can draw a cartoon wolf or dog, you have to gather quite a lot of information. To make the character interesting and convincing, you need to combine the invented story of the hero and knowledge about the real structure of the body of dogs and wolves.
It is necessary
- - a simple pencil;
- - eraser;
- - paper;
- - colored materials.
Instructions
Step 1
Come up with a character for your character. You should know about the dog or wolf that you are going to draw, literally everything - the entire biography from birth in a gateway to a happy hit with kind owners, for example. Only in this case, you will have a visual image of the character, and the details of his appearance will be "invented" as if by themselves, logically flowing from the created biography and character.
Step 2
Decide which style is best to embody the image created in your imagination. Realistic drawing is suitable if you are drawing a real dog or wolf and it is not endowed with anthropomorphic features or fabulous abilities.
Step 3
The style of the image should match the character of your character. For example, a negative character should be drawn based on the real appearance of a dog or a wolf - with a clear drawing of muscles, sharp lines, an emphasis on glittering eyes and a predatory grin. A good-natured puppy can be depicted as a fluffy ball with a crocheted tail and incredibly large eyes - and still, the viewer will guess the dog in the cartoon character.
Step 4
Find on the Internet pictures of dogs, puppies, wolves, a drawing of their skeleton and muscles. You must study the real data of these animals in order to know how to transform them for your purposes.
Step 5
Make some sketches of the hero, changing the real appearance of the animal in accordance with the style you have chosen. Draw a dog or a wolf in several poses, "move" the animal to determine from which perspective it looks brighter and more organic.
Step 6
Draw the final cartoon puppy or wolf. Color the drawing using different materials and application techniques to enhance the character's personality. For negative characters, pick up "dense" materials - gouache, acrylic, felt-tip pens, gel or ballpoint pens. With the help of clear strokes, you can depict the coarse fur of a bristling animal. In addition, you can not draw the texture, but replace it with solid fills. Then contrasting shadows will play on the character of the hero.
Step 7
Paint a good-natured puppy or wolf with softer materials - pastels, watercolors, pencils. To create a soft and fluffy effect, do not draw every hair clearly, instead pay attention to the transfer of color. Consider photographs of wolves and dogs. Notice how the color of the coat changes on different parts of the body. If you can reproduce gentle changes in shades, you will be able to depict a dense, soft coat. For long-haired dogs, use long strokes of watercolor on wet paper. On dried paint, you can add a few strokes with watercolor pencils.
