Dog breeds are extremely diverse. It seems that they are completely different from each other - well, what can a chow-chow and a terrier, a shepherd and a dachshund have in common, except that they all have heads, paws and tails? Meanwhile, looking closely, you can see that different dogs are not that much different. It is enough to learn how to draw dogs of two or three breeds to be able to portray any.
Consider dogs
Consider some of the dog drawings. It is better if the animals are depicted next to any other objects - it is easier to determine the size. Pay attention to the line of the back, the shape of the tail and ears, the proportions of the legs, head and torso. Try mentally "inscribing" the dog into a geometric shape. For example, it is no coincidence that cynologists call terriers “square-format dogs” - they just fit perfectly into a square, and their muzzles have almost the same shape. To draw, you will need a sheet of white paper and 2 pencils - hard and soft. You can also prepare an eraser just in case, but a skilled draftsman can disguise even unsuccessfully drawn lines so that the viewer will not notice.
Husky, german shepherd, laika, malamute
It is better to start drawing a dog of one of these breeds from the muzzle. Lay the sheet horizontally. On the left side of the sheet, draw a shape that looks like an elongated rhombus. The long axis must be vertical. Extend the lower sides of the rhombus to the sides by the same length. Connect the ends of these new segments with a high arc. Mark the places for the erect ears. The back is a curve. The most concave part of it falls on the neck, the most convex - on the sacrum. Draw the torso. It is a wide oval, the long axis of which lies horizontally. The front legs of the dog are strictly vertical, the hind legs are slightly apart. At the first stage, they can be outlined simply with lines. Draw triangular ears, round eyes, and a nose. A dog's tail can be in the form of a ring or a bean. Draw short strokes across the contour line for the fur. Inside the outline, the strokes are positioned as a dog's fur usually grows.
Terriers
It is better to start drawing terriers with a geometric construction. Draw a square, rectangle, or trapezoid depending on the angle. The back line of the terrier is a bit horse-like. These dogs have a high, steep neck. The head is almost at right angles to the neck line. Mark the places for the ears - in terriers they are drooping, in the drawing they look like steep arcs. Sketch the legs. Both the front and rear are usually slightly spaced. With the central line of the torso, they form two high trapezoids. Draw a docked tail - this is a strip or triangle. It is better to draw the wool with a soft pencil in a circular motion. You can even draw with a very soft pencil, rubbing the strokes with a piece of paper or an eraser.
Chow Chow
This dog is very fat, it fits almost perfectly into a circle. From the circle and start. Divide the horizontal diameter into two roughly equal parts. There will be a notch at this point. Draw the head and back line. In outline, it should most of all resemble two adjacent mountains with a hollow in the middle. Mark the places for the eyes, nose and muzzle folds. Draw short legs (because of the long hair, it seems that they are about 4 times less than the height of the dog). Draw round eyes, arched ears. Draw the outlines with a zigzag line.
