Cross stitch is a wonderful hobby that allows you to express your attitude to the world. Starting with simple children's pictures, you can move on to real works of art, which will take several months of painstaking work to create. This hobby will not leave indifferent any connoisseur of handicraft.

Instructions
Step 1
Find an embroidery pattern in magazines or on the Internet. First, choose a small picture, immediately see how many threads of floss of different colors are needed, since the total cost may turn out to be decent. You can also buy a ready-made embroidery kit, which will already contain all the necessary materials.
Step 2
Choose a fabric for embroidery, it can be any material with a uniform weave of threads. If possible, buy a special dense canvas. Cut a piece of the required size from the fabric (add 10-12 cm from each edge to the embroidery size).
Step 3
Place a small part of the hoop on the table and lay the fabric gently on top. Cover with a large hoop and thread one ring into the other so that the fabric stretches. Tighten the screw slightly and tighten the edges of the fabric to smooth out the fabric. When tension is sufficient, tighten the screw fully.
Step 4
Prepare the necessary floss threads for work. If you are using inexpensive yarns, buy all the required amount at once, since the numbers of different batches may not match. Also, check the floss for streaking, soak the floss in hot water and pull it firmly through the white cloth.
Step 5
For large embroidery, line the fabric into squares of 10 squares with an easy-to-rinse pencil. Begin to embroider in the middle and move in a spiral, diverging circles.
Step 6
In the pattern, select one of the colors and start sewing with the thread of the appropriate color. When all the details of this color are embroidered, in the picture, shade the cells that are no longer needed and proceed to the next color.
Step 7
Do not make knots while working. Hide the ends of the threads under several stitches. Cut the thread to an elbow length for easy embroidery. Lay the crosses uniformly, so that the upper threads always lie in the same direction.
Step 8
If indicated in the diagram, divide some cells into two parts - ¾ with one thread and ¼ with the other. In this case, stitch by sticking the needle into the center of the cage. Make sure that the top stitch is guided in the same way as throughout the entire embroidery.
Step 9
If necessary, make the edging with a seam "Forward-backward needle". Such a seam looks much neater and less "walks" than a regular seam, directed first in one direction, then in the other.
Step 10
After finishing work, gently wash the work with dishwashing detergents or powders for washing colored clothes. Rinse thoroughly and dry slightly. Then iron the wrong side through the damp cloth. Additionally, you can slightly starch the embroidery.
