Often, those who are engaged in various types of needlework have a question - how best to arrange the threads for sewing, floss for embroidery and other things necessary in applied art by color, while maintaining the harmony of their combination
Instructions
Step 1
Take advantage of the artists' find - the color combination wheel. This circle is based on the natural physical phenomenon of the decay of white as it passes through a prism, which results in a spectrum of different shades arranged in order, like in a rainbow, namely: red, orange, yellow, and then green, cyan, blue and, purple, of course.
Step 2
Using this principle, you can create 8 basic color groups, and in between, for example, floss of intermediate colors such as red-orange or greenish-yellow. The circle is closed by magenta, which links the basic red and violet colors together.
Step 3
All shades of this layout are divided into warm and cold, with red, yellow and orange referred to as warm, blue and blue to cold ones. Green is referred to as neutral, and purple can refer to both warm and cold colors, depending on the choice of its shade.
Step 4
Remember that in any product those colors that are in the color wheel either next to or on the opposite side of it go well. So, a combination of orange with yellow and red colors, as well as with the opposite blue and black, will look beautiful. This property of the color wheel can be used both in creativity and in everyday life - for example, when choosing things in a wardrobe.
Step 5
Remember the arrangement of colors in a rainbow - this is a simplified version of the color wheel. To create a product in soothing tones, use colors that are located one after another, to add brightness, take colors one after another (for example, red-yellow-blue), for contrast, combine colors that are at the edges of the rainbow (for example, red-purple or red- the black).
Step 6
If you are not sure about the correct choice, first experiment with paints. On a piece of paper, draw the lines of the selected colors and see their compatibility, then lay out the threads in the same sequence and, making sure that you have achieved the desired combination, get to work.
