Lumas are simple knitting machines, they can be round or oval, as well as other shapes. Knitting on looms is a fun process, an unusual way to create a hat or other thing. The advantage of this knitting method is speed. It is suitable for those who do not have the patience to knit or crochet hooks, who think that knitting is very long.

It is necessary

Lumas (knitting machines), special crochet hook (usually sold with looms), thick yarn, needle or regular crochet hook, scissors

Instructions

Step 1

Choose a machine of the required shape and size. The web is formed on the inside of the machine, so it should be slightly larger than the product to be knitted. Round and oval ones are used for knitting without seams (hats, snoods, socks, leggings, etc.). For knitting scarves, stoles, cardigans and jumpers it is necessary to use the so-called "Afghan looms" (also a kind of looms), they are straight. There are machines that consist of several parts. They are used for knitting large things, blankets.

Step 2

Fasten the end of the thread to a horizontal pin, just wrap it once and tie a knot. The end of the thread should not be too short, otherwise it may come loose during knitting and get in the way.

Step 3

The first is the pin, which is located near the horizontal to which the end of the thread is tied.

To wind it, you need to put a thread between the pins and wrap the first pin with a thread. It is necessary to wrap all the pins with a thread, for this, the thread must be placed behind the pin, then wrap it with a thread in the "counterclockwise" direction. Place the thread from right to left and wrap the next pin, wind the thread in the counterclockwise direction.

Step 4

Each pin should be wrapped 2-3 times, on the first pin there should be one more turn (3-4). Wind the thread in a circle, do not cut it in the process.

Step 5

Pry the first, lower turn with a special hook.

Step 6

Lift all the turns and remove the lower turn from the pin, as shown in the photo (it should be behind the pin). The first loop of the knitted fabric is formed.

Step 7

Remove the lower turns on all pins, you get the first row of knitted fabric. There will be two turns on each pin (except for the first one, there will be three on it).

Step 8

Wrap all pins once (add one row of turns). Remove the lower turns from the pins again, wrap the pins with a working thread once.

Step 9

There should always be 2-3 rows of turns on the pins, after the lower turns have been removed from the pins, a new row of turns must be added. The number of turns on the pins depends on the thickness of the yarn, the thicker the yarn, the fewer turns.

Step 10

A knitted fabric is gradually formed, it differs from the usual one, which is knitted. Tie the required number of rows and close the loops; for this, in the last three rows, you need to remove the turns from the pins and not add new ones. Gather all the loops at the end of the thread and tighten or close with a regular crochet hook.
