Knitted fabric, made in two or more colors, looks very beautiful on children's, women's and men's clothing. Some knitting patterns in the hands of skilled craftswomen are able to turn simple things into real works of art.

Step 1
One of the common options for knitting with two colors of threads is a strip. As a basis, you can take a wide variety of patterns: from the front surface and garter knitting to complex braids and laces. Decide what will be the width of the stripes of your product. Cast on the required number of loops and complete several rows in the same color.
Step 2
Next, switch to a thread of a different color. To do this, at the left edge of the fabric from the wrong side, tie two threads with a simple knot and start the next front row with a new color. Knit the required number of rows without breaking the first thread. At the next transition, freely stretch it from the inside out, cross it with the working thread and, leaving the last one hanging freely, start a new row in a different color.
Step 3
The so-called "lazy" patterns are made with two threads. They represent a kind of ornament, made in a certain color on a canvas of a different color. Such patterns can be quite simple to make. For example, checkerboard knitting, in which two loops are knitted alternately, first in one color, then in another. There are also quite complex patterns that require perseverance and attention.
Step 4
Choose a lazy pattern that suits your product. Work several rows of garter stitch in your base color. Start the pattern from the front side. Fasten a new thread and knit, changing colors according to the pattern. At the same time, freely pass the threads from the seamy side, without pulling the canvas. The wrong side of a product knitted with such a pattern does not look very nice. In some cases, it is advisable to cover it with a cotton cloth.
Step 5
By changing two threads of different colors, you can knit a motif on the product. For example, soaring butterflies or geometric shapes. To knit such a heart on the main canvas, fasten a thread of a different color, stretch it from the inside out and knit along the pattern in the front and back rows. This motif can be alternated with an openwork pattern.
