The history of decorating clothes with beads goes back more than one millennium. During this time, the techniques of embroidery with beads on fabric and weaving patterns have developed so much that you can choose a separate technique for clothing of any style.

It is necessary

  • Beads of different colors;
  • Sequins;
  • Threads to match the fabric and contrasting;
  • Beading needles;
  • Paper;
  • Colour pencils;
  • Copy paper;
  • Pins.

Instructions

Step 1

If you plan to completely embroider a section of the garment so that the fabric is not visible, the applique method will work. Prepare a weaving pattern using mosaic technique or imitation weaving technique. Weave a rectangle of the required size and sew to the fabric with matching threads. Try not to pierce through the clothing and only remove the fibers from the face. Otherwise, the threads will be visible on the wrong side.

As a pattern for weaving with a “brick”, you can use the pattern for cross stitching - the beads in the finished work are arranged in about the same way, but the pattern will turn out to be a little flattened, since you are working not with square stitches, but with rectangular beads.

Step 2

Another question is openwork embroidery. Before starting work with beads, draw on a sheet of paper a sketch of the pattern you are going to embroider, preferably in color. Please note that you will be embroidering along the contours - you do not need to sketch the sheet, it is enough to draw a few veins inside.

As with any other technique, beaded embroidery requires a minimum set of colors. Of course, the work looks beautiful, shimmering with all shades of red, but have mercy on your eyes. Even experienced craftsmen are afraid to get confused in three close shades, what to say if you are just learning to decorate clothes!

The drawing must be in natural size. You will transfer to the fabric directly from it.

Step 3

Place some carbon paper on top of your clothes. Pin and circle all the paths and lines. Then put the sketch aside and just look to remember the drawing.

Step 4

Thread the needle, tie a knot, and secure to the wrong side at the beginning of one of the lines. Bring the thread to your face, cast on five beads. Secure the first stitch through the fabric. Beads should fit snugly to each other and be located strictly on the line of the drawing.

Step 5

Bring the thread back onto your face just before the last bead you hit. Pass through it again, collect four more beads and reattach to the fabric. The stitch pattern is similar to the back stitch pattern. In this technique, embroider all the lines, changing colors as needed.
