It is necessary

  • - Glue;
  • - miter box;
  • - putty;
  • - knife.

Instructions

Step 1

In order to hide the unevenness of the joints, a baguette for painting is well suited. It should be installed before painting walls or wallpapering. Determine which inner corner in the room is most noticeable and start finishing with it.

Step 2

Before getting started, determine the direction of cut for the inner and outer corners. To this end, turn the channel-shaped miter box upside down and insert the baguette into it. Then place the miter box on the table with the inserted baguette and cut. However, for a beginner in such work, in order to avoid mistakes in determining the direction of the cut, it is better to use a large L-shaped miter box.

Step 3

After the cut is made, insert the baguettes into the corner to check the mating. Don't worry if small gaps remain. If their size does not exceed one and a half millimeters, at the end of the work they can be putty. If there are more gaps, trim them for better fit with a knife.

Step 4

When choosing glue for baguettes, immediately discard silicone sealants, since they cannot be covered with paint. Liquid nail glue works well, but only if the baguette is not white. Use PU glue or putty. Stick the baguette without bending it in places where a gap has appeared due to irregularities between the ceiling and the wall. After smearing and painting, it will not be so noticeable.

Step 5

When the glue has set and the baguette has firmly settled in its place, apply a layer of putty, which can shrink in places of cracks and joints. The second layer will cover areas of pronounced shrinkage. Moisten the flute brush and smooth the filler with it, passing the baguette meter by meter.

Step 6

After finishing the filling, sand the joints with fine-grained emery paper. Wipe down the baguettes by removing dust before painting. Please note that if the baguette is painted, then it should be mounted after painting the walls or pasting the wallpaper.
