Instructions
Step 1
The isothread technique can be used to create paintings, decorate postcards, leather bags. She is often taught to children as she is good at developing fine motor skills and imagination. First, prepare a base for embroidery - most often colored cardboard is used, thick velvet paper is also suitable. Choose the thread of the desired color - regular in spools or floss. Some craftsmen use silk threads. Draw yourself or find an embroidery pattern. The patterns of the paintings are based on geometric shapes - circles, triangles, rectangles, rhombuses, ovals. For example, with a composition from several angles, you can depict a Christmas tree, from three circles - a snowman, from a circle and several arcs - a flower.
Step 2
There are three basic techniques in the isothread technique - filling a circle, filling a corner, and filling an arc. The easiest way is to work with an angle. Draw a corner on the back of the cardboard, mark the required number of holes (usually they are marked at an equal distance from each other), number the points. Then start embroidering. Connect the numbers following each other with threads. The image should appear on the front side of the cardboard.
Step 3
Filling an arc follows the same principle as filling a corner and a circle. When working in the isothread technique, remember some points. Sew gently and gently - be careful not to break the thread from a sharp and strong pull. Also, from careless actions, cardboard can tear. Make punctures also carefully, preferably from the front side of the cardboard, so that they are not so noticeable. A thread with a shimmer will look better than a matte thread. If it consists of several threads, then it must be twisted, otherwise the embroidery will look sloppy.
