Lariates, or crocheted beads, are made in two stages. First, all the beads needed for work are strung on a very long thread. You can string it in a strict or arbitrary order, it all depends on the pattern.

Tools and materials

To make a lariat from beads, a minimum set of materials and tools is required. First of all, you need beads. If the lariat is intended to be smooth, it should be flat, of the same size. Best of all, their modern manufacturers have proven themselves Czech seed beads "Preciosa", as well as Japanese brands "Delica" and "Miyuki". Japanese "toho" beads are more common on sale, but they are closer to the budget option, and when working with them, you may need to calibrate the beads.

If the harness is conceived of one color, the beads are also taken of the same color. If the lariat is patterned, you need beads of different colors. Knitting density and preferences are different for all craftswomen, and therefore a beginner will have to try several sizes of beads to find the most comfortable one.

The threads are used differently. Most often they are selected to match the color of the beads, if the tourniquet is intended to be multi-colored, it is most convenient to use a neutral gray, brown, brown shade that will not be conspicuous. The threads of the "Iris" type or reinforced sewing threads in bobbins, sold under the "LL" and "LH" markings, are used. A bead needle with a blunt tip is taken for a bead set.

For work, you need an ordinary crochet hook with a number less than one. The most convenient one in work will also have to be sought empirically, having tried various options.

Harness knitting process

The number of beads you need will depend on the size you want. To start weaving, take the end of the thread on which all the beads are strung, and knit two air loops. The number of beads corresponding to the rapport is moved closer to the hook. Grabbing the first bead, knit one more loop. Then all the others are knitted in the same way, trying not to knit too loosely so that no threads can be seen in the gaps between the beads, and too tight - in this case, the thread will quickly break from constant friction.

From the working end, the tourniquet should look like a flower with a bead at the tip of each petal.

The bead ring is closed with a connecting post, the next repeat is moved closer to the hook.

The hook is inserted into the loop under the first bead so that the bead stays to the right of it (for right-handers). The first bead of the new row moves close to knitting and is laid over the first bead of the previous row. The thread is pulled through both loops, the operation is repeated with the second bead. In the future, the tourniquet is woven according to the same principle.

There are several programs that convert any pattern into the required number of beads horizontally and vertically. Most of them are paid, but a detailed description can always be found.

To decorate the ends of the bundle, the first row, after the beads have run out, is knitted in the same way as the entire lariat, but without beads in the loops. The thread is tightly tightened, hidden inside the bundle and cut off.
