The ability to properly tie tourist knots is extremely important for a tourist, because the life of him and his friends can depend on it. Therefore, even when going on the safest hike, it is better to learn several ways of tying ropes, because you never know where the road might lead you.

Step 1
In tourism, many types of nodes are used, different in their functions. One of the simplest is the eight. This knot is used to secure the rope in narrow holes, for example when the rope needs to be secured to a karabiner. To tie a figure eight, make a closed loop with the running end. Then wrap the working end around the root end and loop it through the loop at the intersection.
Step 2
Bayonets are a group of knots that are used to attach a rope to a pole that is circular in shape (such as a tree). Wrap the active end of the rope, twisted around the support, around the main part of the rope, and then pass it into the loop formed at the same time. You can stop at this - you have already got a knot called a half-bayonet. However, you can loop around the main part of the rope again with the working end, loop it and secure it with a thin auxiliary rope. In this case, you will have a simple bayonet.
Step 3
The loops in the middle of the rope are used as intermediate points of support and to cut off any defects in the rope. One of the most famous knots in this group is the Austrian guide. To make this knot, lay the rope in a figure eight, then fold the top loop towards the base and pull it out from the bottom through the bottom loop. Then tighten the knot.
Step 4
To tie ropes of different diameters together, a brach-rod knot is used. Tie the end of one of the ropes into a loop, securing it for reliability with a waist. After that, pass the working end of the other rope through the loop, tie it twice, while passing it twice under the root end and tighten the knot. For the brahm-stem assembly to hold, traction must be applied to the ropes, however, unlike a simple stem assembly, it does not disintegrate immediately after the traction disappears.
