Instructions
Step 1
Before you sew a hat for the winter, choose a model of a hat. The traditional Russian winter hat with earflaps covers the ears well, the beret and hat are combined with an elegant coat. Based on the chosen model, select the material: drape, cloth, natural or artificial fur, leather.
Step 2
Make a pattern after taking measurements: head circumference, distance from forehead to base of skull, and others if necessary. The beret pattern consists of wedges; earflaps - from side and back parts and a visor.
Step 3
Cut out the details of the hat from leather, fabric, or fur. Each material has its own properties that must be taken into account when cutting. For example, the fur must be cut carefully, from the suede side, so as not to cut off the pile, and the fabric can crumble a lot. Reinforce the elements with adhesive doublerin.
Step 4
Pin parts from the main fabric or leather with pins, carefully sew together on a sewing machine. It is best to sew the fur by hand with an over-the-edge seam, threading the fur with a needle to the front side. If you have a furrier machine, then use it. Pull the finished fur product over a blank and leave it for a while.
Step 5
Cut out the necessary parts from the lining fabric, such as fleece. For some models of hats, the lining may be fur, which will be visible on the cuffs of the product. Use pins to connect lining pieces together, machine stitch or sew by hand.
Step 6
Fold the top and lining right sides together, and pin them together along the bottom edge of the cap. Machine-stitch, leaving 5 centimeters unstitched. Unscrew the product through the hole obtained and straighten all the parts. Sew the lining to the top of the hat with a few stitches to keep it from sliding out while wearing. Sew the hole with a blind stitch.
Step 7
Decorate the finished hat with buckles, beads, embroidery or rhinestones. Sew on ties and pom-poms. Comb the fur hat in the direction of the pile.
