It is necessary

  • - an unpainted wooden spoon;
  • - gouache, tempera, aniline dyes of different colors or oil paint;
  • - water;
  • - brushes number 2-6;
  • - gelatin or wood glue;
  • - dentifrice;
  • - oil, alcohol or nitro lacquer.

Instructions

Step 1

Wooden spoons are most often turned from linden, birch, alder, aspen. These types of wood are easily painted with gouache and tempera. You can also use oil and aniline paints.

Step 2

If the surface of the spoon has roughness, before painting, sand the product with sandpaper: first with a coarser abrasive coating, then with a finer one.

Step 3

For a perfectly smooth surface, buff the spoon. Experts advise doing this with wood shavings or dry horsetail purchased at the pharmacy.

Step 4

Before choosing a paint, determine the purpose of the product. If your spoon is purely decorative, will not come into contact with moisture, you can safely paint it with tempera or colored gouache. These paints do not require any prior priming.

Step 5

If you decide to paint the spoon with oil paints, first prime it in two or three steps. The composition of the simplest primer: 1 part gelatin or dry wood glue, 5 parts tooth powder. For a glass of water, just take a teaspoon per measure.

Step 6

Select the desired paint for painting. It can be a water-soluble aniline lightfast dye. Dilute different colors in water heated to 70-80 ° C. For 250 ml of paint, 1.5-2 grams of dye is enough.

Step 7

Choose small brushes for painting (No. 2-6), preferably squirrel. Think in advance about the drawing of the painting (berries, leaves, abstract drawing, etc.). If necessary, apply the contours of the ornament to the surface of the product with light strokes.

Step 8

Apply paint to the surface of the spoon according to your artistic intent. An obligatory rule of the masters of painting on wood: the paint must be applied in one step!
