Step 1

Find a place. Training is best done in a park with smooth, paved paths. If possible, exercise in uncrowded places where there are no passers-by, children and dogs. Do not train near the road to avoid being accidentally run over by a car.

Learn to stand. Before learning the serious elements, you need to learn how to just stand on the board. Place the skate on a flat surface, stand on top of it, and gently move your legs. Choose which leg will be "jogging" and which will be "supporting". The jogging leg is the one with which the skater pushes off the ground; usually the right leg. Accordingly, the other leg (left) will be the supporting one.

Step 3

Learn to roll. Once you've learned how to stand on a skateboard, you can try rolling. Place the skate on a flat surface with your left foot over the front wheels and your right foot off the ground. When you start moving, lift your right foot onto the skate and, using your hands, try to ride a couple of meters.

Step 4

Learn to move. To slow down the movement, move the supporting leg back a little, and then push down firmly. To stop, lower your jogging foot off the skate and brake to the ground. Alternatively, you can brake with the heel of your supporting foot - press it against the back of the skate so that the front side rises in the air. Then push harder, but your front foot should still be in control of the board. If this method does not work, you can simply jump off the board.

Learn to turn. It is necessary to turn the body and extend your legs in the direction where you are going to turn. The harder you press on the heel, the sharper the turn will be. Place the jogging foot on the tail of the board, and the supporting foot on the nose, without changing the angle and position. After that, stand only on your front leg, swinging your nose slightly from side to side. After that, turn around on the board and swap your legs. Turn first one way and then the other while driving. To begin with, practice standing still, shifting your weight forward during a sharp second turn.
