Selection of parts for the manufacture of a carousel

The main parts for making a carousel are: a metal rod about 1.5 meters long, a cylindrical ball bearing, four tubes for the frame, waterproof plywood as a base.

Since the basis of the entire structure is metal parts, then their selection must be taken very carefully. After all, the health and safety of children depends on their quality. If there are traces of rust on the metal, then these areas must be cleaned and painted.

The main part of the carousel is a metal bar. The pipe walls must be at least three millimeters thick.

When the place where the future carousel will be located is determined, it is necessary to mark the center of the structure. It is at this point that you need to dig a hole up to one meter deep and 20 centimeters wide more than the diameter of the main rod.

The metal pin must be placed vertically in the dug hole and concreted. The concrete will harden in about three days. There is no need to rush, because only with well-cured concrete, the structure of the carousel will be held motionless and firmly.

Next, a cylindrical ball bearing must be put on a metal rod so that the walls of both parts are in contact very tightly with each other. This is to ensure that the mechanism moves smoothly.

When developing the design of the carousel, it is necessary to take into account the force with which the rotation mechanism will be started. In order for the carousel to spin easily, the rotation unit should be as inert as possible. Usually, at first, even with very accurate calculations, the carousel turns hard, but with further use and periodic lubrication of the rotation mechanism, even small children will be able to turn the carousel.

When the base for the carousel is ready, four pipes (in the form of a cross) need to be welded to the ball bearing. The pipes are fastened together using corners or a hoop pipe. Tightly fastened pipes will provide the rigidity of the carousel. Waterproof plywood is suitable as a base for the resulting frame.

At the final stage, it remains only to weld the corners or pipes to which the seats will be attached. As a rule, the seats are made of wood, backs and sides are attached to them. In addition, for the safety of children while riding the carousel, safety chains must be attached to the seats.

The do-it-yourself carousel is ready, it remains only to paint it in bright juicy colors.
