Plastic of two or more colors, machine paste, rolling pin or other cylindrical object

Instructions

Step 1

Initially, plastic appeared in the USA and was used by craftswomen to create unique designer jewelry. Now this material is becoming more popular day by day in Russia. Plastic is similar in consistency to plasticine. After making the product, place it in an oven preheated to a temperature of 130 C and bake for 30 minutes. Let the jewelry cool down and cover it with varnish.

Step 2

When working with plastic, there are many artistic techniques. These are mokume-gane, where the drawing is obtained due to multiple layers of plastic, and work with stamps and embossing, imitation of leather, stone, bone and semiprecious stones. But at the heart of all this is the technique of mixing plastic and a smooth transition of color.

Step 3

The plastic is also mixed to produce new colors. Despite the fact that each company that produces this material provides a fairly large palette, you may need new shades. To do this, you just need to connect two or more pieces of plastic and mix them thoroughly, kneading them with your hands.

Step 4

In order to blend the two colors of the plastic and make a smooth gradient, take two pieces of the material in equal proportions. Rinse each one well until it becomes soft and pliable.

Then blind two triangles and connect them together, so that you get a square.

Step 5

You can mix the plastic by hand, or you can use a paste machine. In the second case, the process will be much faster, but if you don't have such a device, it doesn't matter. Take a special rolling pin for plastic, a round piece of pipe or an aerosol can and roll it out.

Step 6

Roll the plastic in one direction, pulling the square out into a long rectangle. When your layer is long and thin enough, fold it in half. This will overlap one color on top of the other. Take another ride. Roll up again. The more you knead the plastic before starting work, the faster your colors will mix.

Step 7

If you are using a paste machine, then it is necessary to roll the layer at least 10 times, starting with the widest distance between the rollers, ending with the narrowest. If you do the color transition manually, then you will have to roll the layer at least 20-30 times for uniform mixing.

Step 8

You can roll out the finished layer already wide, making beads from it or rolling it into a cylinder with a smooth color transition, and then create flower petals from it.
