Step 1
Why? Waking up with the thought that it is you who are missing on the rock scene of your area / city / country / universe, you should think about whether you really need it. After all, as the people say, the factories are idle precisely because “there are only guitarists in the country”. But if you are firmly convinced that you will say a new word (or play a new riff) in modern rock music, go to step 2. In any case, it is worth first probing the local (and not only) musical soil and assessing your strength in competition. Listen to more different music, go to concerts, more often practice playing the instruments or singing on your own, take lessons from the masters. There will always be those who play better - learn from them; and those who play worse - teach them yourself. Thus, you will increase your skill. If you have no ambitions to get to the avenue of stars, and you just like to play music, go to the next step.
Step 2
Who? So it's decided. Whether it is a group for conquering the music charts or a group “for friends”, you need to look for like-minded people. The easiest way to do this is via the Internet. As a rule, there are corresponding forums in every city. They can not only recruit musicians for a group, but also buy or sell musical instruments, rent a studio, learn about musical events and just chat and exchange experiences. A more traditional way to recruit a team is to post announcements at local music colleges, studios and rock clubs. Regardless of where you decide to look for people, you should stipulate in advance the direction in which you are going to play. Whether it is pop rock, heavy or jazz rock, potential members of your band should find out in advance. They will also want to know if it will be a team for a commercial game at corporate parties or experimental music for an amateur. Set the requirements for participants within reasonable limits. Everyone should be comfortable with each other, otherwise the composition will not last long.
Step 3
Where? Having decided on the members of the rock group, you need to find a place for rehearsals. It depends on your financial capabilities and the technique you use. For a group of acoustic instruments, at first, home rehearsals without the use of a backing are enough. If the group includes a drum kit, bass, electric guitars, you cannot do without a rehearsal base. Experienced groups set up their bases, often in heated garages. Newbies can rent a studio for a specific time. Rental announcements can also be found on the respective forums on the Internet. If the group plans to perform on stage, at least sometimes it is necessary to play with the sound, at least at the same rehearsal points. The sound of an acoustic guitar at home is drastically different from what you'd hear on stage. Therefore, you need to get used to the sound.
Step 4
So, the musicians have been recruited, the place has been found, the ideas are there and the repertoire has been selected. The name remains! Here you can only rely on your imagination. Brainstorm with your colleagues. Dig in dictionaries. If the goal is set, you will definitely achieve it.
