The rubber band pattern is often used in a wide variety of knits. Elastic bands can be longitudinal and transverse, more or less embossed, they can be knitted with needles or crocheted.

Instructions

Step 1

Cross elastic is knitted with knitting needles, for example, to decorate the bottom of a sweater or the top of a sock, and it is also customary to perform various types of collars, cuffs and cutouts with such a viscous knit. Cast on two knitting needles at once the required number of loops. There should be about 8-10 percent less of them than the loops of the main canvas in order to tighten the product around the edge enough.

Step 2

Pull out one knitting needle and knit further, alternating the same number of front and back stitches. Moreover, the less this amount (for example, 1 x 1), the thinner, more elegant and elastic your elastic will turn out to be. Knit each next row according to the pattern. In the last row, add evenly as many loops as needed for the main canvas.

Step 3

To knit a more original English elastic band, dial the required number of loops and knit further according to the scheme:

1 row: 1 front, 1 purl.

2nd row: 1 front, 1 yarn, remove the purl loop without knitting.

Then repeat from the first row. Don't forget about edge loops.

Step 4

For longitudinal elastic, cast on loops and knit according to the scheme:

1 row: knit loops.

2nd row: purl loops.

Rows 3 and 4: Knit.

5 row: purl loops.

6 row: knit loops.

Repeat this pattern starting from the seventh row.

Step 5

Crochet an elastic band using embossed (or convex) double crochets in the figure. They can be knit and purl, and when they alternate, a knitting "elastic" is obtained. To do this, crochet first a row of simple double crochets. Make three lifting air loops before starting work. Next, knit a double crochet, but do not grab the loop of the previous row, as in ordinary knitting, but make a crochet, insert the hook away from you between the columns of the previous row, pull the hook in the next "opening", grab the working thread and knit the usual one double crochet. Knit the embossed purl columns as well, but insert the hook not away from you, but towards yourself.
