It is necessary

Paper, cardboard, thread, needle, scissors, ruler, pencil, paints, brushes, colored paper, glue, knife, vegetables

Instructions

Step 1

Take paper for watercolors or pastels (it can be either white or colored) or cardboard. On one draft sheet, write or print a piece of text and calculate how many such sheets you need, taking into account the pages for the illustrations. If you prefer to use a printer, print the text beforehand.

Step 2

Stack the paper and staple it together. You can bend the sheets in half, sew with a strong thread and cut the edges under the ruler. If you do not want to fold the paper, sew it over the edge with a seam. If the stack is large enough, use a ruler to mark the distance between the holes for the needle and make them with an awl. Another, less time-consuming option is to fasten the paper with detachable rings for notebooks.

Step 3

If you prefer a completely manual design, write the text of the fairy tale by hand. To do this, pre-line the pages. You can use a stencil to speed up the process. The first letter on each page can be decorated with patterns or stylized by choosing your favorite typeface from old books or magazines. The text can be arranged traditionally across the width of the sheet or in columns. In addition, it will be interesting to look at an experimental "layout" - lines placed obliquely, in a checkerboard pattern, around drawings, etc.

Step 4

On the drafts, make sketches of illustrations for the fairy tale. Develop characters, taking into account the wishes of the little reader, think in what technique they will be performed. If you are making a book on smooth cardboard, the paint will not lay flat enough, so it is better to use appliqués. If you took paper as a base, you can use all materials - from pastel crayons to acrylics and moreover, mix them. Secure loose materials (charcoal, pastel, sanguine) with a fixative or hairspray.

Step 5

Entrust the design to your child. After all, you can draw not only with brushes. Make stamps from vegetables. If they are multi-layered in their texture, like onions or broccoli, then simply cut them in half, dip them in paint and attach them to paper. Leave the resulting abstract patterns in their original form or add them to the features of animated characters. On the halves of vegetables with a homogeneous structure (potatoes, carrots, etc.), cut out the outlines of the stamps protruding above the surface with a knife and dip in the paint as well.

Step 6

In the end, design the cover by writing or constructing from pieces of colored paper not only the name of the fairy tale, but also the names of the authors-writers and designers.
